After only dabbling in Il-2 and space sims this seems slightly daunting, but might get it once I've upgraded my SSD. Steam says 150gb of hard drive space required.
@sdhen: This. It's been surprisingly frustrating to listen to all the coverage from GB and Waypoint when no one is mentioning SCP. The often incompetent and confused people of a shadowy organisation dealing with supernatural phenomena and the small isolated stories of said phenomena is basically the same in both.
Remedy themselves mentioned SCP as an inspiration in some interview, so it's not a secret and I'm not accusing anyone of anything. Just feels weird to hear this game being described without anyone pointing it out.
That Gone World was a pretty damn fun book full of mindfuck. I instantly bought Six Wakes just from the description you gave. There's just some Eisenhorn business to finish before I can get to it.
I've seen and listened to everything Giant Bomb has produced during the last 10 years, which says something about the quality of the people involved. Happy 10th birthday Giant Bomb!
This game stresses me out, so maybe I'm spending more time than necessary worrying about the management side of things. Hearing how Vinny got a game over by running out of money certainly didn't help, even though I have like a years bumper on my bank account. Glad to know it's possible to survive with less time spent between missions.
I'm about 20 hours in and really enjoying it, even with the stress.
@msoven: Just showing what happens in missions would have misrepresented this game. Maybe not 50%, but a lot of time is spent managing your crew, finances and mechs etc. I think Vinny hit the balance pretty well, but obviously you can spend hours just fine tuning your mechs' arsenal and armor if you want.
Aww, I really wanted this to be good, but I guess My Summer Car level of detail was too much to hope for. I can't help but feel the simulator part of the name is a bit of an oversell.
Haven't listened to this bombcast yet, but just wanted to say I like it when @rorie is on, even if occasionally fast talking and off tangent. I like it when bombcasts are a bit fast and loose and I've never felt like things got too tangential or felt like Rorie's hard to follow.
I pretty much eat bread only in the mornings right after waking up. Sometimes I make a sandwich in dim morning light still half asleep and don't realise the bread is moldy before I take the first bite. Tasty.
