Mass Effect 2 took the story, setting, and music that I liked so much from the first game and grafted on proper third person shooter mechanics in the vein of Gears of War. The result is a game I like very much, more than any other game this year, turns out.
Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh! Uh!
Like Rock Band 2 with more Awesome.
Reach is the best Halo game.
Red Dead Redemption had some rough spots, especially early on, but ultimately delivered a truly unique and compelling story.
Starcraft II's singleplayer is fantastic and where I derive all of my enjoyment from. I'm happy the multiplayer is there too, even if I'm afraid to play it.
Dragon Quest IX keeps the old school JRPG rolling with just enough tweaks, enhancements, and modifications to keep things compelling. Like most of the games on this list, it's strong in the story department.
I always try to go the peaceful route, but then France or somebody starts coming at me with pointy sticks. Oh well, I have dynamite.
Whoo-hoo!
In a lot of ways, I enjoyed Conviction in spite of itself. There's definitely something to be said for shooting a bunch of bad guys in the face though.
