Short note: Yesterday I played my PC version of NfS: Hot Pursuit using a Playstation Dualshock 3 controller emulating a XBox360 controller using the MotionJoy drivers. How crazy is that.
PS: Dualshocks "triggers" are IMHO much better for driving when used for acceleration/brake than simple buttons or even Xbox's trigger like "triggers". PPS: Using the Xbox controller emulation simply enables one to use the buttons in the NfS-Menus. That is sadly not possible with generic controllers.
Ok. One holiday and amazon/steam sale later, I am left with an incredible backlog of 2009/2010 games for 2011. Any suggestions for the order. I got
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Mass Effect I Mass Effect II (Which DLC should I get for that?) Red Dead Redemption Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
I currently balance those games with playing multiplayer on BF:BC2 (Vietnam), Blops (maybe I get rid of that), AC: Brotherhood (maybe I also get rid of it) and also Civ5.
PS: my bargain shopping list Bayonetta, Darksiders, Fallout:New Vegas
... is that you can totally hook up my old wired PS3 controller (Logitech Chillstream) to it, and it works like a charm. There are so many games which just work better with a controller I think. Usually I play these on my consoles, but why not take advantage of Steam sales and my (comparably) rather beefy PC hardware. I wish now I had picked up Dirt 2 on that Steam sale 2 days ago.
So a lot of my personal "heavy hitters" already landed this year, being Civ5 and StarCraft 2. Also I quickly played through Halo 3, Fable 3 and The Force Unleashed 2 - either not my cup of tea or a disappointment, which I have/will put up for sale. I just finished Alan Wake and think it is great, but I am not yet sold on the DLC (I fear it will spoil the ending). I still have quite some games on my backlog, but I want some new stuff. So I am looking for a game that will keep me entertained over the holidays.
I still have some hopes in: NFS: Hot Pursuit (on the PS3, Burnout was better on the PS3 and the PS3-controller is great for driving) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (new MP phenomenon? certainly innovative) CoD: Black Ops (on the 360, no surprises but bread and butter multiplayer)
I am not the blog writing type of guy. But I want to get the quest so:
I am a PC-Gamer at heart, but I got love for all (well... most) systems out there. Owned a Commondore C64, original GameBoy, Super Nintendo, Xbox, and a bunch of PCs obviously. Currently I own both the PS3 slim and a XBox 360 elite fat. Mobile wise I have an iPhone 3G and an iPad. On the PC-side I just got a new rig, and I am currently discovering the brave new world of Steam (sales). I prefer strategy or RPG-titles on the PC. I am a recovering WoW-addict (yeah with high-level raiding and everything), two years clean now.
Not gaming related: I enjoy endurance sports like running, swimming and road cycling and trying to get my PhD in biochemisty. I am a German, currently living in Switzerland. I briefly lived in the US before that.
