Why? Windows 8 is pretty good. Better than Windows 7.

After working with both a lot, I agree with this. It's just a lot faster to do things in Windows 8 once you have the hang of things, though it's VERY annoying initially because it's difficult to break habits you have from windows 7. It also has a lot of "Helpful" features that I absolutely hate, but that's standard with all Windows Operating Systems. Oh, and I also dislike how ugly the metro interface is.

Well, it just got less minuscule. It just blew with a big bang and smoke. No kidding.

Moments after this photo, during windows installation. I guess the heatsink was a little off.

@wuddel: if you didnt touch anything at the time of the poof, that's pretty strange.

ah shit, you didnt go for the stock cooler, well, the cpu shouldnt start burning anyway, it should have just shut down if it got too hot.
did you plug in power for the pump?

@devildoll: Yep. I am kinda annoyed that I did not simply slapped the stock cooler on this. I would have been all set. On the other hand I actually do not know what "exploded" (well there was smoke). But I am not equipped to troubleshoot that. I am not sure how I could have killed the graphics card or the power-supply.

Obviously I checked the cooler a bunch of times. So the radiator-fans were running and the "Corsair" logo lit up. I guess it was powered up.

The stock fan/cooler should have been enough unless you are doing big overclock. If you heard something go "pop" that would actually be a short.

Sure you didn't blow a capacitor on one of the other components? A heatsink not being on won't cause a puff a smoke.

@wuddel: okay, well its past my bedtime, probably yours too.

I say get some sleep. Then disassemble it tomorrow, and inspect the components for visible damage.

Could be a blown capacitor on the motherboard. I had a couple blow in my lcd screen. That caused smoke and a bang too.
