For a while, Belgian game creators like Tale of Tales were able to find public funding through the Flanders Audiovisual Fund's "experimental media" funding category. That changed with the establishment of a dedicated games fund

I think its important to note that they were eligible for arts funding, for sunset - they were just outcompeted in that space. That they then blame the commitee for - ultimately - just not getting it, is a bitter stance to take.
