I do not want to read more shit about Mass Effect 3. Neither the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit includes a deus ex machina.

Also, the convenient placement of weapons in single player campaigns is part of gameplay design. You can't really get away from that and keep the game balanced and well-made, though a good game does its best to try and hide it. Stories are like that - coincidences everywhere.

Yeah, but it's cool when it happens on Doctor Who.

Ok? Thanks for telling me shit I already know? It doesn't make Mass Effect suck any less, and it only adds to the neverending fucking forum rage about that game. Good job.

Transformers 2 has one of the best examples of a Deus Ex Machina I've ever seen. Towards the end, they suddenly use that giant railgun to kill the junkyard decepticon that was not mentioned at all before and disappears just as quickly after it's used. It could not have been a more blatant example. I just watched the clip again on youtube and it's literally talked about for one minute when they need it and never mentioned again.

@R3DT1D3: Oh man that sounds awful, but fairly typical for Michael Bay. Remember in Independence Day when they were like, "Oh hey guys, we have an alien spaceship that still works. Wanna use it, even though no one has ever understood the technology?" *Will Smith raises hand. "I'm a pilot! Let's go!"

But Micheal Bay didn't direct Independence Day...

The problem that it was a d.e.m. wasn't the issue with the ending. The issue was that it brought up an unnecessary plot twist at the very end of the game, which served no purpose but to add a superficial and unneeded motivation for the villains, and then proceeded to cattle chute you through the final minutes with an arbitrary decision which really made no sense at all.

If at the end of the game, the crucible was activated and send a signal out which blew up all the Reapers, nobody would be bitching about the ending, even if Shepard died in the activation.
