Resi 5 and GH:WT

So i played the Resi 5 demo, its pretty good. It borrows allot from resi 4..Infact it is resi 4 but in a new setting, plus it looks very good. I played Resi 4 on the wii and loved it so I dont know how im going to enjoy using a standard controller to play it, but I think it will be good for the most part.

My GH3 controller totally died on me a week or so ago, so i decided to pick up the solo Guitar Hero: World Tour pack. And it is good for the most part.  The music creator is useless in terms of useability, it looks incredibly difficult from the offset, I used it for about 3 minutes before just giving up. The character creator feels really goofy and quite cheesy, I also didnt feel that motivated to tally change my characters appearnce that much unlike RB2 which seems more involving. Having started my guitar hero experiance on GH3 which was probably ill advised due to the difficulty, I found GH:WT just a little bit easy in parts with very few songs causing me trouble for more than 3 goes at it. Talking about songs....

The song selection is strong with heavy overlap with RB2 being the order of the day here. What is exclusive to GH:WT is good though. I didnt really enjoy the tool stuff, I thought it was long and quite dull I think a few people who claim "Tool changed there life during puberty" are infact fans who feel threatened by the better game RB2 and clinging to anything that could be better. they should instead focus on Jimi Hendrix, all of his songs are great to play and whilst feeling a little weirded out by playing with a dead guitar hero, i was more weirded out by the icon for the achivement, a human skeleton. DLC is few and far between but there is some good stuff out like the Jimi Hendrix pack and the Sort-of-bad-but-a-tiny-bit-excusable-due-to-age Metallica Album.

The actual Guitar is great, with it feeling sturdy and responsive, the lock and key sort of mechanism for the detachable neck works great so there shouldnt be a repeat of the GH3 controller badness. The touch pad is OK but rarely used its just too fumbly to be practical in the context of a song but still cool if you get the chance to use it.

Overall a good attempt, but goofiness and ease of game make GH:WT a distant second behind RB2

Games of the year for me. (and a few bits and bobs..)

Theres not going to be any ordered structure here. Just a quick note on what i enjoyed.

Fifa 09.

Probably the best sports game of the year. Its incredibly fun and very playable.

Rock Band 2

More of a thick layer of paint than a fully fledged sequel. A highly enjoyable game with some of the best music about (Billy idol ftw).

Left 4 Dead.

An incredibly interesting experiment in terms of what it does with Co-Op, thankfully pulled off and what is left is a great and fun game.

GTA 4
A massive improvement over the highly over rated San Andreas, I actually cared about the story with this game and I also didnt use any Weapon cheats. It was an incredibly satisfying game that I enjoyed throughout.

 Bits and Bobs.

So yeah i played  GoW2..and I did enjoy it, the story was vastly improved but it was still pretty bad with characters that i really couldn't connect with, i still hate the multi player..

Fable 2..A hard choice to leave out it was quite a good game but I dont know, as the game on the more i just wanted to finish it, there is allot to do but non of it particularly compelling.

Fallout 3 i played for about 1 hour and then gave up it just bored me, you could say its oblivion with guns but the comparison ends at the open world, it lacks the playablity of oblivion, the fun of oblivion, i didnt find the story particularly interesting either, i was really lookign forward to it but i was mightly dissapointed by it.

P.S Jeff Buckleys Hallelujah should have been christmas number 1!

I gots me Too Human

And its pretty good.

I'm having a lot of fun with the combat, once you get the sliding right its very fun. There are a few technical issues though. Texture clipping appears to be the main one, the whole weird death animation is particularly bad...Arms appear to rise out of the ground as well as the weird angel things feet.

On the subject of the Death animation its really doesn't bug me that much...Sure its a bit annoying but i mean there has to be some sort of punishment for dieing. Look at WoW the whole ghost walking thing is very annoying but people seem to think that its a great idea. Thats about all the punishment you get with dieing in Too Human, enemies dont respawn, you dont lose gear or anything.

The amount of loot you get is great and it all looks great. The menus are a bit annoying and there is no sort of mini-map which is frustrating in the city. Havent tried Co-op yet but will do soon.

Overall im really enjoying it.

2 new games!

DMC4 and BF:BC.

DMC4 because, I don't know...I played Bioshock a lot and now I guess I want some mindless fun that involves giant swords and lots of bullets. BF:BC because it was on offer at half price and I really enjoyed the demo. Seems like a nice hectic, explosion filled alternative to Halo and CoD 4.

Really loving the GB videos. Especially the Soul Caliber 4 one. Hope they keep on getting better and better!

See yous.

The Dark Knight

A masterpiece. The Dark Knight simply put is the greatest super hero ever made. The thing that sets it apart though is that it is more than a super hero film it is as many reviewers have said a brilliant crime film.  Everyone in the film was perfect which is what makes this film so bittersweet. As you know Heath Ledger sadly passed away earlier this year and well his performance in Dark Knight is mind blowing. He deserves an Oscar nomination at least. His joker is crazy, psychopathic and well what is most frightening is..You find yourself laughing at something of the things he does. Aaron Eckhart was superb as Two-face, Bale was again great as batman and Gary Oldman as always was on top form.

It wasn't just the performances that made the film so phenomenal it was everything, Costume, make up, lighting everything. Also just to say this film is incredibly dark. The film is a thrill ride no moment is ever dull, I came out the cinema with my adrenalin pumping yet slightly exhausted at the same time.

Simply put this is the greatest super hero film ever made. No lies.

11 out of 10.
