I read about Quake Live in March in a Gameinformer magazine. It said it was free, and well, I love free games. I have never played Quake before but it looks fun enough. Well right after I read it I immediately signed up for the beta but not even an email saying I didn't get in. Has anyone here gotten into the Beta, One of my friends signed up the day it came out on 3 different emails and he hasn't gotten in yet.

Well eagle, I'm not going to ask you for an invite, but is it worthwile? Is it fun? And will beginners such as myself, get owned within seconds.

Yes, beginners like myself will get owned. Sometimes even before you (re)spawn.
Yes, I would say it's fun - just because it's 95% the same as Quake 3. Seriously, go play Quake 3 if you want to practice before QL opens.

Unfortunately I have no way of playing Quake 3 :(. Also, does it run directly out of the browser, so I wouldn't have to download anything in my computer engineering class?

Quake 3 Arena is available in steam.

i'm in the beta. its really just quake 3. theres only like 5 or 6 dudes playing at any given time. they're going to pwn you in seconds.

I'm also in the beta - it's really nicely done and works very well.
They've changed the physics and damage around a bit from the original Quakes which makes it seem a bit unfamiliar, but either way, I still suck at it and get destroyed by everyone.

I will be shameless and request an invite if there's one out there. Apparently though they have taken away the ability of clicking a page for your invites, you can still login, then visit quakelive.idsoftware.com/beta/add and type in email addresses there.
