I'm just wondering if the Quake games would still be worth playing at this point. My interest has been sparked by the fact I'm now able to pick up (all?) of the series from Steam for the very reasonable sum of £8.49. So yeah, worth getting or not?

I play Quake 2 once every year, I still find it to be one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. I am unsure if that is just a nostalgia thing at this point though.

Being as it's only £8.49 I'm just going to buy the pack and see for myself. I feel as if I should actually play Quake anyway, the most playtime I've had with it is a few hours at a mates house and then I was too young to remember this that well.

They're pieces of gaming history, and are landmarks in multiplayer.

I believe you get all the quakes minus Quake Wars and Quake 4.

I believe they're still very good games.

QuakeLive is a better game than Quake3Arena in my opinion and Quake 2's SP really doesn't hold up well in modern gaming terms.  However, as a bundle they are good to own if you never have before.  Call it nostalgia buy in. :)
