Mechs (or Mecha) are humanoid-like pilot driven vehicles often depicted in media as a combat machine. Early examples of Mech/Mecha in video games are often derived from early manga and anime as well as table-top games.
An explosive ordinance propelled by a rocket engine designed to blow an object to smithereens. A missile is often guided, in some way, to its target. For example; by laser, remote control, or computer/GPS.
A laser is a focused beam of light, invisible through the air without some other medium (such as smoke) to illuminate it. Lasers are often used in video games as part of a targeting system, or as an offensive weapon in their own right.
Machine guns, generally, are heavier weapons with a rapid rate of fire. To quote the Quake manual, they "eat ammo like popcorn."
A dropship usually refers to a ship that ferries troops, heavy armor, and supplies from carriers in orbit to a planet's surface. Sometimes it refers to any futuristic in-atmosphere transport that is not a helicopter or airplane.
Jump jets allow exoskeletons, mechs, and other heavy armored things to fling themselves into the air when the need arises.
A powerful energy weapon from the Battle Tech universe.
This is an automatic cannon that uses shells of 20 mm and above depending on the weapon's caliber.
Known as the Mad Cat within the Inner Sphere, the Timber Wolf is a heavy Clan OmniMech native to the BattleTech universe. It has become one of the franchise's most iconic 'Mech designs, and is featured prominently in the box art for a number of games.
The Mad Dog, also known as the Vulture, is a second generation Clan OmniMech primarily used for support at long range.
