A great game, but not perfect.

First of all, Im a huge fan of the first resistance so i already had promised myself to love this game. So I might be more forgiveable to some of the games faults than many other would be.

    So, the Single player.
Many say that the campaign is totally horrible and broken but thats really a bit harsh. Sure, i got through it in 6 hours and I really didint care for the story until the end(which was awesome) but i feel that i didint need much more out of that. It seems that insomniac only had that one plot twist in mind when they started making the single player and couldnt quite stretch it out to a regular single player campaign size in the end. But they did however, come through with the promise that R2 would be much bigger in scale than R:FoM. Constantly throwing you into more awesome and massive moments all the time. I think that the gameplay could have been more interesting than it was, since it really didint give you alot of variety but it was enough to keep me going.

    The Gameplay
What instantly hit me when i started playing was :Hey, this isnt resistance! This Call of Duty 4!
Really, with all of the focusing on using the "aim mode" for shooting and the two gun system and it generally felt alot more like CoD than resistance. Which i found to be a bad thing. Its still a ton of fun shooting your way through an army of Grims and leapers but it didint have the feel of R1. But once i got past it (and got good at it) i really enjoyed it much like with CoD4. The weapons were much of the same as the first resistance but with a few new ones. I was almost hoping that they would make new guns for every game like they do with the Ratchet and clank series but i guess the old ones are fine too.

    Then comes the CO-OP
This is, hands down the best co-op in any game ive ever seen. Its a completely different and interesting experience. I like that you dont just play the story missions with other dudes but instead play your own campaign thats made for more people. The gameplay in coop is class based which really makes you use teamwork if you want to do well. The missions do get a little repetitive after the 10th time youve shut down those same hellfire turrets but many wont be bothered by this factor. The bosses are alwaysfun to play against although they sometimes do weird stuff that makes beating them either incredibly easy or mad difficult. But the overall quality of the co-op  is outstanding and makes the game worth recomending just for that. Ive spent alot of time just playing co-op to level up my classes since ite very addictive.

    The competitive
I have to admit, i havent gotten around to this much.  But it seems fun although a 60 player team deathmatch can get a bit too crazy for me. I dont really like that all the guys kind of glow in the color of their team because it makes it feel to much like a game. The skirmish mode is, as everyone says the star of the show here and its the mode that i have the most experience with. Being in a firefight and suddenly getting told that you are a priority target makes for some intense and fun gameplay.I dont understand what was wrong with the old CTF that they had to change it to something dumb like core control. Taking the enemys weird ball thing makes exactly as much sense as stealing their flag. The competitive isnt really why im giving this game 4,5 stars, at least not yet.

    The graphics
This game looks amazing. Its one of the best looking games on the ps3 and really looks outstanding in some places. And all of that while having 50 enemies on screen is crazy and awesome at the same time.

So all in all, Resistance 2 is a must get for any ps3 owner.

The first Resistance title was the first purchase I made the day I got my PS3. At the time, Resistance was everything I wanted from a console shooter and the multiplayer options had me playing it for some time after I finished the single player campaign. It felt urgent and now, an essential part of the shooter landscape. By contrast, Resistance 2 feels like a game that was rushed to completion and paradoxically feels as though it was released years ago.The problems begin with R2's single player ...

      Confounding single-player is a huge letdown. 0

Very few major gaming sites called out Resistance 2 (Giant Bomb excepted) on its confusing, disappointing single-player campaign. While the original Resistance offered a rigorous challenge with a reasonably engaging storyline with sparks of unique personality, Resistance 2 sags with unfulfilled potential.  The game is technically sound, with a decent graphics engine, solid gunplay and reasonable enemy AI. But everything else just falls off the rails. The storyline is nearly incomprehensible, as ...
