Futile 0

The first Resistance title was the first purchase I made the day I got my PS3. At the time, Resistance was everything I wanted from a console shooter and the multiplayer options had me playing it for some time after I finished the single player campaign. It felt urgent and now, an essential part of the shooter landscape. By contrast, Resistance 2 feels like a game that was rushed to completion and paradoxically feels as though it was released years ago.The problems begin with R2's single player ...

Confounding single-player is a huge letdown. 0

Very few major gaming sites called out Resistance 2 (Giant Bomb excepted) on its confusing, disappointing single-player campaign. While the original Resistance offered a rigorous challenge with a reasonably engaging storyline with sparks of unique personality, Resistance 2 sags with unfulfilled potential.  The game is technically sound, with a decent graphics engine, solid gunplay and reasonable enemy AI. But everything else just falls off the rails. The storyline is nearly incomprehensible, as ...

Better than the original... 0

Resistance 2 is the follow up sequel to the Playstation 3's exclusive launch title Resistance: Fall of Man. It's a first person shooter created by Insomniac Games, who's known for their Ratchet and Clank installments. You play as the infected soldier Nathan Hale in his continued saga to save humanity from the Chimeran invasion which has now come to the home front of the United States (specifically California, Illinois and Louisiana). Despite what the many has described as a generic story plot, I...

Insomniac puts the original Resistance to shame with their sequel 0

I had a lot of fun playing Resistance 2, and when it comes to games, that’s by far the most important thing for me. It is essential that I have fun when playing a game. I can ignore graphics and I can ignore gameplay flaws and I can ignore terrible voice acting as long as I’m having fun. But Resistance 2 doesn’t need to worry about any of that. It’s got great graphics, and it sounds good, and the gameplay works, and even though this is the second time I’ve cleared it, one year after its original...

An Quick Summary of Resistance 2 0

Resistance: Fall of Man was one of my favourite PS3 games at the time. So when an sequel was announced, I was more than happy to pay top dollar for the game on Day One. Once I'd finished the game however I was left with an rotten taste in my mouth. I was extremely disappointed with the sequel. The Campaign had it's moments but they were few and far between. The game frustrated me with seemly impossible encounters and extreme linearity, all the magic from the original was gone, the wheel, Co-op (...

If Art Imitates Life, then Halo must be Life 0

Resistance 2 : The First Person Shooter of the Month! In particular, Sony’s fifth or sixth-odd attempt at mimicking Halo, including all the Killzones and Hazes of the world. Story : Why it’s the ever popular Humans versus Aliens! Actually I’m not quite too sure what these “Chimera” are supposed to be. Are they’re alien invaders, a virus that infects humans, or a combination? That had to have gotten those spaceships and lasers somehow. The game’s explanation is a bit confusing and their backgrou...

Resistance 2 Review 0

Why would I give Resistance 2 a 10? Many reasons but manly because it is almost totally perfect! This is the only ps3 game I have ever played that has not had a single noticeable glitch in the entire campaign play-through. Its graphics are surprisingly great and game-play rocks with the right controls in the right spot! Do not be fooled by its prequel Resistance fall of man where it wasn't really the best start of the resistance series. The multipayer is the best multi-player I have played (n...

Online good, offline bad 0

The 4 words in the headline sum up my feelings on this high budget PS3 exclusive. Most reviews at the time of its release were quick to point out the excellent multiplayer suite, including the MMO-style levelling system and co-op "raids." These all work extremely well and are a lot of fun. Exhilarating even. Running from objective to objective with your crew, and killing massive bosses is highly enjoyable and there's still not many experiences like it out there.    But enough has been written ...

Fun for the whole universe! 0

In short Resistance 2 is exactly what a sequel should bring. It doesn't necessarily give alot of new gameplay mechanics to offer with its overall gameplay scheme, but still improves on virtually everything Resistance: Fall of Man did right and even fix some of the things it done wrong. That said R2 can safely be put under your fast paced run n gun FPS category. All the same basic formulas are here but it still gives you a top quality equivalent to all of those aforementioned formulas.R2 offers y...

Best Multiplayer game yet and Maybe Shooter of 2008 0

Its been 2 years since the PS3 was released and that means its been 2 years since the hit Resistance: Fall of Man was released as a launch title for the PS3.  Back in 2006 Resistance gave us all a very good taste of what to expect from all PS3 exclusives with its excellent graphics, excellent campaign, and a multiplayer option that ceased to disappoint.  Well now Resistance 2 has a lot to live up to and can it withstand the pressure of Gears of War 2.Story-Believe it or not Resistance 2 actually...

Co-op is a blast for those who play well with others. 0

Resistance 2 is a game that tries to spread itself out evenly between multiplayer and single player.  It takes some risks which unevenly pay off.  Overall the game is not more than the sum of its parts, but there are some parts worth noting.Resistance 2 continues the story of Nathan Hale from Resistance: Fall of Man.  In Resistance the world of an alternate 1950s is under attack from a species known as the Chimera.  Nathan Hale, a US soldier, fought the Chimera in RFOM and as a result became inf...

War has changed. But just a bit. 0

Resistance 2 ReviewGraphics are great...No doubt, the graphics are better in many ways. More enemies on the screen, more colorful etc. It still has some of the monochromatic themes per level but the general style is much more vibrant. I know that seems contradictory but its not. Each level still has a color theme its just not as bland as R1.New Sprint function...I really like the idea of the new "sprint" mechanic. Much like in COD4, you do not run all the time but you hit a button to activate a ...

A solid, but by the books, shooter with great MP 0

Pros:-Guns are unique and creative-Campaign is fun-Multiplayer is great and features 60 player battles-Co-op is fun-Boss battles are epic-Good map design-Chimera are excellent enemiesCons:-Weak storyline and characters; terrible ending-Doesn't do much different from other shootersFirst person shooters are a dime a dozen and it can be hard to stand out from the crowd, and while Resistance 2 may not succeed at being too unique, it's still a high quality shooter that's worth picking up.Resistance 2...

A must have for PS3 Owners 0

Resistance 2 is the most anticipated games for the Playstation 3 this year. With all the hype and mystery surrounding Resistance 2 does it live up? Short answer is yes, long answer is still yes but not perfect.             A lot of criticism has gone to the story. The story is quite good and really answers some questions involving the first one. Unfortunately the problem is that it was not told as well as the first one was told. For example the there are many cut scenes missing where there shoul...

A Varied but Forgettable Experiance 0

Resistance 2 is a fun fps that you probably will not remember, you won't find any memorable characters or ground breaking innovations here but it's a varied and colourful game with the co-op mode being the highlight that will keep your attention until the credits roll. The game starts where the first one ended, you're picked up by a bunch of Helghan looking fellows who take for a ride in their chopper to Iceland for some reason but the aliens, called the Chimera, by the way, shoot you down and y...

How would you like a cup of tea bag? 0

I'll only focus mainly on the online portion as I haven't really dug into the single player portion.  Of all the games I'll played, the online portion can get really crazy. Team death matches of 30 versus 30 is such an incredible blast. Well, I suppose I should retract that. Depending on how well both teams work, it could be a blast.  Visuals on the PS3 is like any other games I've played which is superb. Insomniac did such a great job on the visuals and environments. While playing the stages su...

Resistance 2 is the perfect mix of single-player and multi-player 0

Resistance 2 is Resistance: Fall of man but improved in every aspect, and not only slightly but by large margins. Resistance 2 has almost as long of a single-player but is of a higher quality over all than fall of man. Multi-player now has co-op through the single-player and co-op online with 8 players and a completely new set of a few dozen missions not seen in the single-player itself. Competitive has been ratcheted up from 40 player online to 60. Most impressive of the games additions is t...

Now thats what i call a shooter! 0

Wow, I can honestly say that after I played this game.. Simply wow. As stated in my past review I am a huge RPG nerd so it takes a little something to pull me into a shooter. And Resistance 2 brought a whole poundcake of sed something. The story in shooters as per the norm.. Well to put it simply they suck. Play Halo or Call of duty and you get the same old crap over and over. Yes there are the repeditive moments in any game but at least I was interested enough with the story and I liked the cha...

Holy crap 0

Resistance 2 is everything that a stellar sequel should be, and then some. The graphics, sound, and scale of the game have received dramatic overhauls since the first Resistance, and the new additions make R2 one of the top  shooters released on consoles. From the moment that the single player campaign begins, it is clear that Insomniac tried to, and succeded at creating a campaign that will keep players in awe at almost all times. From a tense assault in a towering redwood forest to a more conf...

play if you're sick of a better FPS 0

I wanted to really enjoy this game but it simply cannot hold my interest nearly as much a good game should. I play a fair amount of games and expect there to be fantastic game play, beautiful art or a compelling story to really get me into the game. Even meeting one of the requirements is usually enough for me to really enjoy a game. This title falls short on all fronts in my opinion. The guns are boring and bland with run of the mill action and nothing that makes you say "cool" when you shoot i...

Best PS3 game 0

In 2006, the PS3 launch was a failure, due to god awful games. But, there was a fun exclusive called Resistance from the creators of Ratchet and Clank, Insomniac games. Now, the long a waited sequel has game and it is better than the 1 game without a doubt. The story picks up right where the 1 game left Nathan Hale. The chimera has now left jolly old England, and now has now invaded the United States. Nathan Hale and the rest of the U.S forces now continue their fight against the Chimera. As a W...

A solid game even if it is only a sideways step for the franchise 0

I am going to come right out and say it, I never finished Resistance: Fall of Man. I liked it well enough I guess, The story seemed interesting enough and at the time I got it, there really wasn't all that much else to play on the PS3 but I got bored with it somewhere around half-way through and then got distracted by games that did the genre better, like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4. It came as somewhat of a surprise to me that I was interested in playing Resistance 2. However Insomniac, one of my...

Resistance 2 0

Resistance 2 is the sequel to the PS3 game Resistance: Fall of Man. In this you will be taking on the role of a soldier that has been infected by the Chimera virus and it is your job to try to put an end to the Chimera attacks. You will have at your disposal a multitude of weapons, but when it comes down to it there's just going to be a couple that you're going to end up using the majority of the time. The graphics I have to say kind of disappointed me. They really didn't blow me away and left me...

Bullet Point Review: Resistance 2 (PS3) 0

What I liked: Backgrounds - The backdrops you fight in front of in R2 are pretty amazing with lots of action and detail in them. The Chicago and San Francisco areas are, IMO, the best.   What I didn't like: Dark - For some reason this game is dark, even in the day light it's dark. There were times I would pause the game and have to adjust the brightness of my TV just to see properly. Jump - I'm not looking to jump as high as the Master Chief here but in R2 your jump was not much more than a lit...

Resistance 2 0

Resistance: Fall of Man was one of the most popular and successful games to debut on the Playstation 3's opening year. It graced players with an excellent single player campaign, an interesting story, and an online multiplayer that was on par with that of the wildly popular Halo series. It was inevitable that fans would expect a bigger, more action-packed sequel to continue the story of Nathan Hale, and Insomniac delivers in every way with Resistance 2.The story begins immediately after the even...

Great game, but could have been better 0

I thought "Resistance 2" was a pretty good game, especially what it was doing with its XP system.  Rather than keeping all aspects of the game separate, "Resistance 2" combined single-player, 8-person co-op and multiplayer XP (and, thus, your rank in the game) into a single number.  This allowed people that only liked one or two modes of the game to only play those and not be punished.  I wish more games would do it that way.  While I enjoyed the single-player mode of the game, I really, really ...

Second Best FPS I've Played 0

In 2006, Insomniac Games released Resistance: Fall of Man, a first-person shooter set in a circa-1951 war-torn Great Britain. In the game, fans worldwide took up the mantle of Sergeant Nathan Hale, one of 5000 soldiers sent by the U.S. to help Britain with the virus infecting its inhabitants and changing them into Chimera. In the sequel, Resistance 2, the war has landed on U.S. soil. Resistance 2 picks up right after the end of Resistance: Fall of Man. After Nathan is drugged by some mysterious ...

Great premise that is never completely fulfilled 0

The original Resistance: Fall of Man was a flagship PS3 launch title for Sony. The sequel comes at a time when the market's most expensive system is crying out for another killer-app in the wake of the astounding Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots. Does Resistance 2 fit the bill? Scale is turned up to 11 in R2Following on immediately after the end of the first game, R2 finds our hero, Nathan Hale, as a squad leader in a team of elite soldiers who have all survived Chimeran infection. You...

A solid sequel to the PS3's premier launch title 0

Resistance 2 is a first person shooter by the well-known Insomniac Games.  It is hard to believe but this is their fourth game on the Playstation 3 (Resistance: Fall of Man, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty).  Resistance 2 is an improvement from the first game in almost every way, but the key word is almost.    Starting off, the game’s visuals are technically sound.  You might find some muddy textures here and there and the characte...

Multiplaer Brilliance 0

This review a little premature seeing as I haveen't even come close to completing the SP Campaign, and is certainly too sort for a game with this scope but I'm going to bang this out...and then get back to playing R2's competitve multiplayer, because it's that good.  I have only played through the first boss in the SP, and then got into the MP and haven't turned back yet.Simply put, I think that this game is gorgeous in appearance and in gameplay.  The SP campaign picks up where Fall of Man ende...

A great game, but not perfect. 0

First of all, Im a huge fan of the first resistance so i already had promised myself to love this game. So I might be more forgiveable to some of the games faults than many other would be.So, the Single player. Many say that the campaign is totally horrible and broken but thats really a bit harsh. Sure, i got through it in 6 hours and I really didint care for the story until the end(which was awesome) but i feel that i didint need much more out of that. It seems that insomniac only had that one p...
