    Overview

    The Resource Wars were a series of global conflicts lasting from April 2052 until October 23, 2077. All major world powers at the time were involved: United States, China, European Commonwealth, and the Soviet Union. As the global economy deteriorates, due to widespread plagues and dwindling resources, the United States, European Commonwealth, and China launch military campaigns to secure that last remaining oil fields in Mexico, Canada, and the Middle East.

    Timeline

    2052

    • April: The Resource Wars begin as the European Commonwealth invades the Middle East in reaction to the rising oil prices, known as the European Commonwealth-Middle East War.
    • May - July: The United Nations begins to collapse as many countries withdrew from the organization. On July 26th, the United Nations is officially disbanded.
    • December: The city of Tel Aviv in Israel is destroyed by a terrorist nuclear weapon.

    • January: Nuclear exchange in the Middle East raises fears around the world. The United States sets in motion "Project Safehouse" - the construction of vast vaults to protect from nuclear holocaust.

    2059

    • To protect its oil interests in Alaska, the United States increases its military presence in the area and establishes the Anchorage Front Line to guard the Alaskan Pipeline. Tensions raise between then United States and Canada over the the U.S. military stationed along the parts of the pipeline in Canada.

    2060

    • The Euro-Middle Eastern War ends as oil fields dry up around the Middle East. The conflict leaves the area in near ruin.
    • The European Commonwealth dissolves back into quarreling nation states.

    2066

    • Winter: China invades Alaska, starting the Battle of Anchorage. Tensions grew even stronger between the United States and Canada over American troops moving through Canadian soil and planes flying over Canadian airspace. Tensions died down as Canada reluctantly allows the U.S. military to pass through.

    • The first suit of the T-45d power armor was deployed on the front lines in Alaska. Although less movable than future versions, the power armor proved invaluable

    • September 15: In response to China's aggressive use of my biological weapons, the United States government contracts research company West Tek to start the Pan-Immunity Virion Project (PVP).

    • The United States stakes claims on the world's last known supply of petroleum oil, located off of the California coast.
    • The U.S. military deploys infantry equipped with power armor to the Chinese mainland.

    2075

    • February 14: Canada agrees to be annexed by the United States.

    2076

    • January: The annexation of Canada by the United States is finalized. Canadian protesters incited riots across the country, escalating to the protesters being shot on sight. Images of the protest reach the U.S. mainland, causing internal unrest.
    • March 30: The U.S. President orders the Navy's Pacific Fleet to protect the Poseidon deep sea oil rig, on top of the world's last known oil supply.
    • June: T-51b power armor is invented, representing the pinnacle of power armor technology before the Great War. The U.S. infantry equipped with the T-51b prove to powerful for Chinese forces, bringing China to the breaking point.

    2077

    • January 10: Alaska is reclaimed by the United States, and the Anchorage Front Line is once again controlled by American forces.
    • January 22: Power armor is first used on American soil, serving as a measure of crowd control amid riots over food shortages. Many civilians are kills, and soldiers start to defect from the military.
    • March: The U.S. President and the rest of the newly formed Enclave retreat to remote locations around the world, preparing contingency plans for a nuclear or biological attack from China
    • October 23: The first, and only day of the Great War. It is unknown who launched the first nuclear missile. The Vaults around the U.S. were sealed and the world became engulfed in nuclear fire.
