Overview
RINNE is an isometric action RPG for the PC where the player controls a disembodied spirit that processes enemies in order to advance in the game. The title is thought to be a spiritual continuation of Bothtec's Relics franchise and was perhaps originally planned to be the next entry in the series after 2001's Relics: The 2nd Birth. However, due to the company being caught up in a legal battle over Legend of Galactic Heroes, Bothtec was unable to finish the game themselves. Nihon Falcom had had a working relationship with Bothtec since the 80s, with the company even creating mobile ports for Falcom's titles in the then recent past. Perhaps because of this, Falcom helped Bothtec finish RINNE and it was eventually published by Softbank on June 30, 2005. The title was released the same day as Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Falcom even sold a set that included both Oath in Felghana and RINNE in a single package.
