    Roberto Orci is a screenwriter and producer. Along with his former collaborator Alex Kurtzman and JJ Abrams, he created the Fringe TV series. Orci is a big Star Trek fan, but he was always forced to make compromises for Abrams, Kurtzman and Damon Lindeloff. After the critical failure of Star Trek into Darkness, Abrams moved on as director and the franchise stood at a crossroads. Orci pitched a third film to Paramount with himself as director but they passed on this and hired a Fast and Furious director to replace Abrams instead. After this Orci ended his partnership with Kurtzman and walked away from the Trek franchise.
