There's a lot to be said for the hack n' slash formula; it used to be a side scrolling type game where enemies come at you anywhere on a flat 2D plane. With all the sophisticated graphics of today, full 3D worlds can be carved and made into game settings. Well... it's essentially Dynasty Warriors 0
Pretty much everyone who's owned a console in the last 10 years has at least heard of Dynasty Warriors, the epic-scale beat-em-up franchise about ancient China. Samurai Warriors is basically the same thing, except Koei decided to place the action in 16th century Japan.
