Wow this is pretty scary. Its also kind of scary how many video games have been added that people know. Shouldn't people be trying to forget that the gender of a character just changed in the game they just played? Yet it must be burned in their minds so much that they put the game out there on a list for all to know.The funny thing is, some of these games are really good. What we need to do is look beyond the gender change of characters and look into the game play!

I don't remember gender change in Metroid.  Samus was always a girl :P

Hm...  right.  Nintendo originally referred to her as a "him".  She didn't change, but her perception had.  Not her fault, really. :)

And...  it took some pondering, but Jade Empire has it in the play scene.  Lady what's-her-name.

Is it that traumatic? Some people find it interesting, some identify with it. As long as children aren't being shown the graphic details (when they're not too busy playing the latest GTA), who cares?

You make it sound like the only things people should be worrying about here are things like "swords" "hit points". I think it's good that games have evolved where gender issues come in (and most of the ones listed are light hearted)

Well there are lot more easy ways to get points (see: 2D, Death, game over). Our library has a whole special collection on transgenderism, (and the fact that someone made it). Somebody wants to know

I actually imported Ranma 1/2 manga. It's a good read, too bad I can't exactly recommend it here because I usually refer people to it and say "don't read the summary" in an attempt to somewhat surprise them. There's no surprise if you know what happens. :P
