Remember it was going to be remade into something else? Well it turns out that's not going to happen.

It looks like EA is going to do all it possibly can to (quite literally) capitalise on the new Star Wars film(s).

It says specifically in the blog they are focusing on The Old Republic, not anything to do with the new movies.

Which is pretty fucking sad, I think, if you are on that team.

Remember that new IP?

No dice.

New Star Wars games?

No dice.

Old Republic?

Yeah.

I thought this looked pretty interesting at Gamescom. Sad to see it die on the altar of generic MMOs, hopefully it will be the last.

Not terribly surprised, that never seemed like a good idea or a good fit for Bioware.

So yeah I would say it definitely has something to do with the Disney Star Wars Offensive™.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I want from BioWare.

Probably a good idea after The Secret World.

It's weird. Urban fantasy used to be this weird thing for dorks like me and nerds who like D&D and darkwave and Marilyn Manson, and now it appears to be the core of the major networks' primetime drama lineups. Now you can't swing a True Blood without hitting a Grimm. And yet at the same time, there's no hugely successful urban fantasy MMO.

Every time I hear about this game (which is not very often) I just think of Yugioh.

I mean they are definitely going to try to get more people into the Old Republic this year but I can't see how they use the new movies (in even a semi-natural way) as a tie in to that game.

Also, lol, I think using Dice in my post was a mistake. I wasn't actually referring to Dice the developer, just "no dice" the saying, as in "no way".

Bummer! I was curious about what this thing would've ended up as. I guess they weren't so sure either.

Don't really mind them focusing on the Old Republic though, or the new Mass Effect for that matter. Wonder what this "other new IP" is. They're not still making a C&C game are they?

I totally forgot this game existed! Well, I guess I can continue doing so.

I know i'm supposed to be sad about this, but honestly, nothing about that game appealed to me.
