Overview
Shin 4-nin Uchi Mahjong: Yakuman Tengoku (loosely translated to "True Four-Player Mahjong: Yakuman Paradise") is a riichi mahjong game developed by Chat Noir and published by Nintendo for the Famicom, exclusively in Japan, on June 28, 1991.
Nintendo's third and final first-party mahjong game for the Famicom, Yakuman Tengoku is billed as the successor to the 1984 game 4-nin Uchi Mahjong, while also sharing the name with Nintendo's "Yakuman" brand of mahjong tiles (as well as the 1989 Game Boy game Yakuman). It is also a successor to the Famicom Disk System version of Chat Noir's previous mahjong game Professional Mahjong Gokuu, using the standard "table view" (as opposed to showing each player's hand and discard in a "grid view").
Along with a standard "Free Mode", the game includes a campaign mode ("World Mode") where players travel to seven cities around the world to rise in rank and earn prize money (which is used as entry fee, causing a game over if they run out). The game includes battery backup for saving progress and preventing save-scumming.
