This series is great, but without the full science team it just isn't nearly as good as it can be.

Let me tell you a story from my youth. Imagine trading in a bunch of your old games for a pair of new fighting games for the original Playstation and Iron & Blood being the better game with a wide margin. That's how extremely terrible Killing Zone is...

The story reason behind why Dr. Bald head became Faust is that when he accidentally killed a little girl during surgery, Baldhead went insane/transcended to a new state of being. That's why Faust can do things like teleport and summon meteors while Baldhead doesn't.

Also in the story they do the Clark Kent thing of having no character being able to recognise Faust because the paper bag, even though he's still a 9 foot tall dude who fights with a giant scalpel.

It's been a while since I watched the anime adaptation, but Bastard!! is basically Berserk but the protagonist is a wizard, also all of his spells are named after butt rock bands.

Probably Eddie as in the mascot of Iron Maiden?

The Testament and Justice fights in the original Guilty Gear remain the most frustrated I've ever gotten at a videogame. Even MK has nothing on those cheapasses for boss fights.

@sambair Think you might have the wrong end of the stick there, Bastard!!! is nothing like Berserk, You are right about everything from spells to characters to cities being named after classic rock bands, though. But Bastard!!! is tonally a comedy it the gimmick being that the main character "dies" every episode, but it's ALWAYS a fake-out. And I have no idea how to not have this be underlined, thanks GB's weird formatting!

Iron and Blood is definitely from that awkward mid-90s era of Dungeons and Dragons games between stuff like Eye of the Beholder and stuff like Baldur's Gate. They were definitely slapping the license onto whatever, and it shows.

Only thing missing is Jeff's historical spiel about the development and release of this game. He's like the gaming almanac.

"This isn't a fighting game; this is Hungry Hungry Hippos" is one of the best scientific assessments this series has delivered.

I really like the chill vibe with Jason and Ben. They bounce off each other nicely and have good back-and-forth conversations. I am a fan of Jeff, but he is set in his opinions and tends to show flagrant disregard for the scientific consensus at times.

This science is FRAUDULENT! Iron and Blood is a goddamn TREASURE!!!

Iron & Blood was actually supposed to come out for the the never-released M2, the follow-up to the 3DO. I remember seeing the screenshots numerous times in Next Generation magazine in 1995, being hailed as the "YES THESE ARE ACTUAL SCREENSHOTS" future of gaming.

Advanced D&D is its own version(technically 2e as AD&D is its own branch from original)

4th edition didn't come out until 2008

Finally, I found the game I was looking for. As a kid I didn't own any consoles but I was layed up with a hurt knee and had a friend lent me their Playstation. I played so much Iron & Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft but could never find the name of the game when I was older. This is a great blast from the past.

Please just don't record these if Jeff isn't there. This and the last one with him not there was just boring. No one really talks or explains anything. This series should be about showing off these games, what they do well and what they suck at. Explaining why they are good or bad, and evaluating them between the other games and having fun. This was just watching two people play a fighting game and then stopping.

At 49:21 there was a weird chirping sound, and I got scared to death that a bird had somehow gotten into my house...

Oh boy! Now I that Ben mentioned it Guilty Gear does have that Bastard! influence. I remember watching that anime and how it was the first anime that I watched that incorporated rock by having one main protagonists had spells named after rock songs like "Guns and Rows." Too bad the series never was completed.

Ky Kiske is named after the first two Helloween vocalists! One of the few references in there I actually get.

Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft was appropriately scienced. That is the worst fighting game I've ever seen.
