this lion king stuff takes me to a weird place mentally. odd mix of nostalgia, sadness, fun, and idk. just a part of my life that barely feels real anymore. just wanna cry watching it.

Lion King is bullshit. Scientifically, Scar would have been king as lionesses have an instinctual preference for dark hair in their mates over lighter hair. Whereas Aladdin, which is set in China and about Chinese people, is about as historically accurate as can be imagined.

The SNES Lion King was one of the few games I owned as a kid. I seriously beat the game at least 50 times. It's kind of funny hearing people on podcasts talk about how difficult the game was. I guess I just memorized patterns and mastered it. Will be interesting to see if I can still beat the game now. (fuck the hyena caves tho, I definitely don't remember the correct sequence)

That Lion King game was so much fun as a kid, not sure if I could go back and enjoy it now though.

I did finish Nioh, despite not loving it as much as the soulsborne games. Seeing Jason get his ass kicked reminds me of needing to go back to Sekiro. Talk about dissapointment of the year, not so much the game, but being confronted with my limitations as a gamer getting a bit on in age :(

Zero surprise that Ben also has a bad opinion about Aladdin. I loved The Lion King as a kid but growing up and finding out how Disney basically ripped off the entirety of that movie wholesale has made me appreciate it way less.

I love Nioh so much I went for the platinum. I found the game to be fun and way more approachable than most Souls games. I also love the character designs WAY more than any other souls-style game outside of Bloodborne.

Aladdin is good but I don't think Ben's wrong really that it isn't the best. My top 3 disney movies from that era are probably Beauty and the Beast > Lion King > Aladdin.
