Well since All Systems Goku has now ended for at least a few months there is no real reason to visit this site anymore.

Watching Super now—and holy crap—Jeff and Dan need to start watching this YESTERDAY. I was skeptical at first, but season 2 is really going places. The best kind of Dragon Ball places.

I just created an account to have the record say that I hope you go back and watch original Dragon Ball.

Because I would love to hear the "looks on your faces" when all the weirdness happens.

@danryckert@jeff I'm a few months late here, but really wanna' thank you fellas for giving me reason to rewatch a show, that was unequaled as far as I was concerned when I was a child. It's been a hell of a ride, and a lot of fun hearing you fellas, as well as the folks in the comment section, speak their impressions on the thing.

Suggestion in the next paragraph, mild as it is. Feel free to skip that if you don't wanna' hear my take on what "could/should be next."

Now, everyone and their damn dog (hopefully named Bee) has an opinion on this, but I really think you guys should watch the new Dragon Ball Super movies. They're self-contained, considered canon these days, and are just an awful lot of fun. There's three in total, the first one is a nostalgia trip in the best way possible; the latest, the "Broly" movie, sports the best visuals and fighting this show has ever had. They poured money into the animation of that thing, and it also tells a real neat story.

-

I just wanna' say thanks. You guys are great.

Will we see some Dan on Jeff head-to-head Dragon Ball Fighterz at some point? I'd love to hear your guys thoughts on that great game now that you know the source material.

Super is NOT good. Same shit, stretched longer.

There is such a thing as too much, and even the stakes have reached it. Honestly, it reads like the worst fanfic written by children.

GT, while widely considered bad, at least tried to do the weird stuff that og Dragon Ball did, and increase the scale by a logical step. It also had pretty decent ideas, like how SSJ4 is obtained/why it looks the way it does, and the concept that the balls are overused.

Meanwhile, Super's multidimensional shit is basically just a fat bowl of "what if" given a budget and Toriyama's blessing, because money.

Dragon Ball ends when the original manga ends, no matter what any money-grubbing committee says.

If you need to watch anything connected to Super, all you need (which will be the ONLY thing original or different) is the first movie, in which Beerus makes the Saiya-jin jump through hoops to make Goku the god of saiyans, which is bullshit because it doesn't exist. Beerus just wanted to give Goku the excitement of fighting a true god, and because he is not one, there is no winner. Just a good fight for the bored Beerus and the mortal Goku.

@virjunior: Super is fine. It's not like Dragon ball was designed to be some beacon of artistic integrity. It was written quickly by dude looking to get paid. It's always been a product. Super is also not that long, particularly when compared to other anime targeted at young boys, it is shorter than any version of Z. The idea of what if writing is what Z was all about. What if Goku turned out to be an alien. What if Vegeta and Bulma had a son who traveled back in time to help Goku. So on so forth.

Just finished my third re-listen to this podcast, still one of my favorite pieces of content in GB history. Makes me sad it will never get a follow-up, given all the recent staff changes.
