We still have video stores, Family Video, but they are on their last legs. A bunch of locations have closed, and the rest all have signs outside that say WE SELL CBD so yeah.

Someone in chat had asked if the Hollywood Liquor had white claw. I can confirm they did, though only the variety pack.

It's better compared to Kotor (2) and ME2, but for other reasons, expect everyone to repeat "fallout" over and over again until their heads explode.

It looks kinda Fallout-ey and the guys who did the original Fallouts directed the game, so that's inevitable. KotOR, maybe, but I'm not really sure where ME comparisons are coming from.

Hey folks! I know the video versions are normally a bit quieter than the audio version, I did some tinkering around so please let me know if the videos are finally matching up to the audio versions!

The dialogue options from New Vegas to Fallout 4 were a huge downgrade. The good Fallout dialogue system that people remember is the one from New Vegas.

Man, it's pretty nice to hear Brad and Jeff enthusiastically talk about a recent video game! That sort of thing seems like a rare occurrence these days.

Looking forward to playing Outer Worlds on the ridiculously cheap Xbox PC Game pass.

The best thing about that Hollywood Liquor sign is that I'm pretty sure the Liquor part used to hang over the entrance to a Walgreens liquor store too.

I'm really pleased they love Outer Worlds, I had faith ever since I heard Tim Cain & Leonard Boyarsky were working together on it, they were on Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines which is like a top 5 RPG of all time kind of game and also Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura Which is still one of my favorite RPGs to this day (Both games being beautiful buggy messes with great worlds and characters)

And of course they did the original Fallout which I never got the chance to play. When I heard they were back together on a new game I had some really strong hopes that it would be a quality RPG. I'm excited to hear even someone like Jeff start with "I love it, I love it"

Someone nominated Wonderful Christmastime as the worst 80s song. And I'll give you that version is terrible. But The Shins version actually kinda slaps.

Kinda, yeah. In a shocking twist, an ancient, evil alien race (that you heard next to nothing about during the rest of the game) is still around.

I can't say I'm surprised. One of things that came out of the Jason Schreier article was that the writer David Gaider was upset that other people on the dev team thought the story was too similar to things BioWare had done in the past. His quotes came across as really huffy in the article - kind of like how dare people have the temerity to think his story wasn't particularly original.

He legitimately didn't seem to understand or see just how much the same it was to prior BioWare games.

As someone who put together an all 80's Spotify playlist about a year ago (Dynamo's 80's Arcade) to accompany my newly modded Arcade1up cabinet, the new Worst 80's Songs feature is my new favorite Bombcast segment. Thanks to it, Holiday Road has now been added. And Red Red Wine was added from earlier in the Bombcast; a song I was well aware of, but for some reason thought it was an early 90's song. Then again, I seem to recall hearing that song while at a water park terrified of some giant freefall waterslide, which I don't think I would've been terrified of in the 90's in my mid-teens. Great Bombcast!

In the email segment how come the thing that disgusts Brad about Anthem is basically where Destiny 2 is at after all these years?

I too adore those games, and what made me feel SUPER excited for a game I was definitely already going to play is that it doesn't sound broken as all hell like those two games were for a LONG time. So happy this sounds like a success, and hopefully a lot of people get into it thanks to Game Pass.

Criminal "total eclipse of the heart" is even brought up in the worst songs of the 80's, a 5 minute video that has motifs from all the great genre from the era. Possessed kids that might be vampires from Salem's Lot or just the Exorcist, Mad Max, some ninjas. Dafuq we talking about here? You would live for stuff like this before youtube and Vevo https://youtu.be/lcOxhH8N3Bo

I'm glad to hear that The Outer Wilds is great. Lately, I've been so tired of open world games that drag on for a hundred hours, so hearing that The Outer Worlds is only about 30 hours sounds great to me. It also makes the game more replayable for me.

I've recently read somewhere that Diablo is in the top 5 most popular video game franchises in China. Knowing that, it makes a lot more sense why suddenly Blizzard got interested in a mobile Diablo game and even a Diablo 4, after the franchise was seemingly abandoned for a couple of years.

I saw a review today saying you can get 60 hours out of the Outer Worlds, but then they said you can beat it in 6hours if you know what you're doing.

I wonder if you can beat it just literally shooting everyone without engaging in the story? I've wanted a game where you can do that and am hoping you can be ruthless and it actually matters. Red Dead (and most games) feel so lame when you wanted to be a criminal because of endless respawning cops. I hope this doesn't have endless respawning cops.

I'm super stoked for The Outer Worlds. An Obsidian game is literally the first RPG I ever finished (KotOR 2) and what got me into the genre as a whole. And then KotOR, and I was hooked on BioWare, too.

I'm kind of curious to see how I feel about TOW after playing it. I've enjoyed Obsidian games during the era of Chris Avellone. I'm curious to see if I like Obsidian as a whole, or if it was particularly Avellone's narratives that I was drawn to. Obsidian--and any developer, really--is obviously more than just one person. I wonder how much of their previous games have been impacted by his influence, though. I guess I'll find out in a few days!

I am so glad that someone sent this in as I wanted to do it years ago. That change happened shortly after Benton County changed to a wet county. I love how the owners re-purposed the "Hollywood" that was already on the side of the building.

Outer Worlds and The Outer Wilds both being good games is going to make game of the year discourse an absolute train wreck.

Also, I am super into the doubling down on the Worst 80s Song discourse.

I was gonna say the 80s song stuff was getting old (as someone who loves cheese and most of the mentioned songs), but going all in on making list has brought me around on it. Good shit.

Also DEFINITELY making a playlist as the list is built

I think it's time to retire that big bulky logo on the table (especially since it's technically not the logo anymore). It just looks sloppy how one of the corners is always in the close up shots and it's also cut off midway in the wide shot.

The table is prime advertising space and I think business dave would agree that putting different merch there every week would be cool, such as the new skate deck or various apparel.

God dammit the boogie board bit has me cackling like a maniac in the middle of my office

Edit: @brad Definitely play New Vegas! Jeff briefly mentioned that Fallout 3 had choices but it's not quite the same. FO3 (and a lot of Bethsoft games) are about killing your way up until a binary dialogue choice, and sometimes passing a skill check to skip the killing. F:NV, and Outer Worlds it sounds like, is about making small choices as you play that culminate in a variety of different outcomes.

Oh? That feels surprising as someone who has continuously played D3 since launch, saw how it has grown, and enjoyed the seasons despite only ever rolling Witch Doctors. They could have abandoned D3 after a year, leaving it in the hell that was Act 2 on Inferno difficulty, but they really beefed up the content and gameplay over time.
