I don't think a new Mass Effect has to figure out a more frightening all powerful enemy than the reapers to have a good big bad. Like Saren in Mass Effect 1 was less powerful than the reapers of 2 & 3 , yet he's still regarded as a good enemy to play against.

I think about how the powerlevel of Miles Morales in Into The Spiderverse was quite a bit lower than Peter Parker for most of that movie. The guy hardly knew how to swing and use his powers for most of the runtime. But you still cared about his story and his character arc. A new mass effect character can be written in a similar way where you're not this heroic figure that has to protect the entire universe. It can lower the stakes.

The annoying thing about that Last Guardian situation is that non-patched you get 60 fps, but the patch gives you 4k upscaling & HDR.

Costwise, a disc drive isn't that expensive but those things take up a considerable amount of space. Whenever you're making a small formfactor computer, you'll always be battling thermals and increasing airflow, so i don't think that we'll see a discdrive included for the next generation. It would make more sense for them to support an external drive or figure out another way to accept a physical medium at that point i wager.

harsh but yeah the same thing happened with Control for me (different staff member, different out of the blue spoiler). I've heard the staff complain at fans on twitter for the same thing, sometimes with lesser spoilers, so yeah come on guys.

They should just reboot Mass Effect. Only thing good about 3 was Tuchanka and the multiplayer. It's an utterly worthless game and the ending was just the easy thing to point to as what was wrong with it but that story was just garbage overall.

Reboot it with a solid plan and story for a possible trilogy. It's a far more interesting and better option than to figure out what you'd do with a sequel that radically changed the universe. Even setting it 300 years in the future wouldn't be far enough to get away from the ramifications of those endings.

There'd still be human controlled reapers flying around or all matter in the universe would have integrated circuits in it. Only the destroy ending would make sense and I remember reading they don't want to make any one of those canon.

I've always preferred soggy cereal. All the flavor, none of that crunchy bullshit. I've never understood why people like crunching on food. I find it both annoying and unpleasant. Gimme a soft taco, soggy cereal, third soft version of crunchy food, any day of the week. Do you guys just find it fun to crunch into shit? I do like the occasional food with a nice crisp, like some fresh lettuce in a sandwich or a crispy, sugary edge to a perfectly cooked fresh from the oven.

I guess we are destined to never understand each other.

Regarding the email about post ps5/xb-sx generation possibly going all digital. I think one solution could be if Gamestop partnered with Sony/Microsoft they could develop a system where you surrender your used disc game copy to GS and they provide with a digital download code for the game. This is a win for GS since they would turn right back around and sell your surrendered disc games to folks who did not immediately jump to the next generation. (obviously there would have to be some deal in place to be able to get digital codes from the platform holders though)

Hearing @unastrike get all excited about his CX worries me. I have one and don’t get too excited about the 4K/120 stuff yet. There are some Gsync/HDMI 2.1 bugs, so it doesn’t work on the Series X or the 3080 yet. They say a firmware update is coming soon.

I did not expect for Everything or Nothing to get a mention, what a pleasant surprise! It truly is the best James Bond game. Just far enough along that you had solid modern controls, it being an original story meant it didn't need to get tied down to cramming gameplay into a fixed Bond story, visuals and music are great, the mission structure is super varied, it's got an all-star cast, plus it has a surprisingly extensive co-op campaign. My absolute favourite 007 game. To top it off, the very first time you put the disc in, before any menus, you get launched right into a classic Bond opening stinger: a completely unrelated mission before the opening credits roll.

@curufinwe: Right? These kinds of conventions that are agreed upon retroactively are pretty common in history. Like it's not like people in the bronze age were walking around saying stuff like "gee I sure love living in the bronze age!" But we use that term today because we as a society have agreed upon what it refers to. The same goes for console generations.

I would be interested in the Mass Effect collection simply because I still have yet to play any of the 2 or 3 DLC (excluding the "hey a new character" DLCs). The pricing on those things is still ridiculous. On Origin, you still have to use "BioWare points" to get them. Absolutely absurd. A relic from a time long gone, and it wasn't even good when it was the thing.

I know someone who is one of those dedicated ME3 multiplayer people. He has thousands of hours played in it. I'm sure he's bummed there will be no MP in this collection.

The bugsnax tutorial pretty clearly says that bugsnax get stunned when they hit each other. I can see how Jeff got confused though, since making an enemy run into a wall is a horrendously overused trope in video games
