I wonder if jeff will be so busy for the next few months that he wont play deathloop as much and come GOTY talk just kinda fall on the Meh side and be surprised when people fight for it. I heard its very dishonored and he didnt like that game.

If you'd asked me after the first 5-7 hours of that game what I thought, I'd've been sure it would have been near the top of my GotY list. But after spending another 5-7 hours finishing it, I'd be surprised if it makes the list at all, unless it's for Most Disappointing. It's one of the most maddeningly frustrating wastes of a cool concept I've seen in some time.

God damn some of those transitions lol. Great stuff. Jan rules. I want Jason to host one! But he probably doesn't want to, anxiety bros unite.

I love Jason’s heel turn as The Overrater, as well as the fear everyone is going to soon have of Jan’s powerful segues.

That's why I said I wonder, wasn't putting my stake that He must feel this way or something, lol. He definitely said verbatim in several videos that he did not like dishonored series much (hinted he was busy with personal stuff) so I'm not putting words in his mouth unless we're supposed to contextualize it that he liked it some other way in another video IDK (and had plenty of time to game).

Anyway, I can see your death loop take really...taking off lol. Most people scream about how good a game is online after first reactions, many do not finish them within the first week or so. SO most discourse is from a great first start which death loop has at least from the humor and so forth concept seeming "cool". Now dishonored were a stealth game and its disheartening to hear more takes from the general population, "from what Jan and crew or critics usually say" that the "good" thing about a new stealth game is that it lets you go "loud" if you want and you can reset, it's very "forgiving" etc. That works for most if not all gamers since From my experience pure stealth gets knocked points cause it's not loud. People prefer action and find waiting for guards etc boring (wish games would just have a toggle to speed up the world so guards walk faster). Kinda why Dan likes MGS vs splinter cell. MGS allows you to shoot out like a shooter, Splinter cell forces more stealth, which I liked in the first few games. Personally found the gun-ho approach of splinter cell's more recent entries annoying since i still try to go stealth and feel like I'm forcing my genera into a game that wants to sell to the shooter crowd.

The point is I hope death loop is more dishonored 2 even if some of the general public doesn't like the open stealth nature of dishonored. I never had that paralysis from choices dan and jeff said they have playing those games. I found you can unlock most of the abilities in one playthrough that you want and it's short enough you can replay to get the others, plus the many options to enter areas was fulfilling. Add to that YouTubers like stealth gamer show stealth can be fulfilling as action shooters if you play like hitman setting up situations and what not. bit of a rant but I hope I enjoy the game now that I'm seeing more sides to how good this 10/10 critical game is.

And I second everyone on the Jan energy. If Jeff G. wants to step aside, I think he’d be a great replacement. He’s personable, has interesting opinions, and, let’s face it, he ain’t old (I’m 46 so it takes one to know one). I always like that he brings a totally different set of games into the mix.

I'm glad that Jeff gave a shoutout to Cracking the Cryptic. And I too play Sudoku (and other numbers & logic puzzles) as a stress & anxiety reliever.

@dannyodwyer hits it on the head ~ 1:08:30. The SEC doesn't care about sexual harassment. The SEC cares because Activision hid its bullshit investigations into employees from its investors. So executives who covered up the harassment were denying information to investors, who would theoretically be less likely to invest in the company if they knew about its toxic masculinity/party culture that enabled sexual harassment/assault.

I love how you get into that community and suddenly you learn that they call puzzle makers 'setters' like they are 'setting' a trap for you to dismantle. And then he gets extremely excited about how the sudoku unwraps and he says typical british things like 'oooh.. simply stunning.. this is marvelous!' and you can almost see tears in his eyes being amazed by the genius behind it.

And you have like 'legendary setters' that are just friendly random old people from countries around the world. Like you wouldn't assume that there's a community that looks up to these people as brilliant minds :D

They also do other puzzles btw, and they have released a bunch of sudoku games on steam

Re: Timestamps. Someone in the youtube comments nicely put some up.

Gosh I wish they would tell me how much more a month I needed to pay to have them put chapters into these 2+ hour podcasts ala Nextlander does. I'd even just take "show me what to pay to get timestamps added officially/in the description for the pod....like literally every single other 90+ minute podcast I listen too/follow that covers a range of topics does.

So happy to hear Ben is back! His weird ass humor brought me so much joy. Also, Ben's and Jeff's chemistry is magical.

This is probably unfair, but there was something about Jan, being an American, and not knowing about Wichita that threw off that whole overrated/underrated segment and his answers for me. As soon as they got to Witcher 3 I was like, 'yeah, dude like that probably would find it overrated' lol.
