I was hoping for more vitriol. Expecting it even.

Expectations NOT MET!

TWICE THIS WEEK!

Come on, Marc!

I'm okay with it. There's already SO MUCH fuming and spitting on the internet over a LOT of unknowns and blanks basically being filled with the WORST case scenario that it's nice to hear podcasts like this (and ESPECIALLY Giant Bomb) actually tackling what's fully known rather than more wild speculation.

Oh, I was mostly just joking around. I actually prefer the breakdown they did to straight up rage, though I do find straight up rage to be extremely entertaining. And I think Marc can be an artist when it comes to tearing stuff apart.

It seemed like they way overreacted. Yeah, the conference was totally lame and boring, MS just talked about nothing important for an hour, and Call of Duty was poorly presented. But c'mon, everyone is jumping to conclusions about how much MS is "abandoning" gamers. At least wait until E3 for more details.

I disagree with around the 55 minute mark when you say that Microsoft and Sony can't have different policies on used games. Why not?

Look at the differences on multiplayer with the current consoles.. One has a free option and one does not. Is that not a huge difference?

They could but it's tough business decision. Since most of these used games policies are for the publishers, not the console makers. If the publishers decided to side with just one console maker, and reducing the number of releases / support on that particular console, it could spell trouble.

Unless of course, if say, Sony decided to focus more on self publishing devs / indies rather than big name publishers, etc.

I thought this was the best podcast on the web about the Xbone (XB1? The New Xbox?). While frothing rage would've been fun, I really enjoyed the discussion on the marketing missing the mark.

Keep up the fabulous content!

@sammo21: yup, that's what I said, "Sony will have no games at E3".

Whose the real fanboy? The guy who tries to be reasonable and not jump to conclusions, or the guy who listens to it and then hears what he wants to hear.

GOD BLESS. PEACE AND LOVE.

@cheapyd: I guess we'll see what they have to deliver. I'm sure both consoles will announce plenty of great titles. At the end of the day the real question is who delivers the best overall package that seems inviting to people who love games.

I honestly hope both consoles are successes. More competition leads to innovation and a better experience for me.

I like @cheapyd. I don't mean any harm by this but most of the guys on this show have a very similar voice and I have no idea who is talking at any given time. This was the first time i made it through a whole episode because there was a person on there with a unique voice and opinion. That's just the basics of good radio. I'm gonna go check out the CAG cast. Thanks!

@cheapyd: lol, you stated that Sony wouldn't because of them having all of it at their presser and that E3 was going to be about features. You so cray. I'll listen to the podcast again just to get a timestamp and repost.

Whoever was ranting about how Microsoft doesn't 'get it' needs to shut up. Microsoft has priorities that don't include your personal preferences - get over it. Didn't expect such generic forum-commenter behavior from people who should know better.

After the millionth time I heard Cheapy say "What Microsoft should've done..." as some sort of defense, I nearly shut the podcast off. Arguing some sort of fantasy scenario of an alternate reality where Microsoft did handle all the questions they got really well doesn't mean shit. Yeah, maybe they should've said "we don't comment on x and y and z right now, wait for E3." But they didn't. We're discussing the situation we're in now, not the fantasy version of events that went super awesome.

This was my first time listening to the 8-4 podcast, since a bunch of people on Neogaf were recommending it, but I felt like I was listening to cable news half the time. You don't "agree to disagree" on things that have definitive answers.

Oh, and spending the whole podcast on some sort of soapbox against Microsoft and all of their allegedly bad and out of touch decisions is kind of undermined when you end by saying "but I'll buy it on Day 1 anyway." You are part of the problem.

This is why I'm picky with podcasts. Ugh.

Cheapy brought it, and while I personally don't like buying batteries, he kept the others' hyperbole in check for the most part. And while I didn't know about Ray previously -- though, I had seen the Kickstarter project -- I became more and more interested in Boku no Natsu Yasumi as I listened. I'm gonna pick up a previous issue of Scroll to see what it's like.

Can anyone explain what Mark was going on about with Backwards Compatibility?

OG Xbox to 360 was x86 to PowerPC, only a handful of games had any BC, and it had to be done on a title by title basis and worked poorly.

360 to One is PowerPC to x86... and yet Mark not just thinks it should have been in, but sees no reason why it isn't? It's the exact same situation!

I realize they are translators, not programmers, but seriously.

Came here to point this out, but my guess is either Mark did not realize the 360 was PowerPC or did not know that that would pose a pretty significant challenge to backward compatibility. All most people know in regards to BC and the PS3/PS4 v. the 360/XBONE is that the Cell chip was "weird and different" to program for and the 360 was "more like a PC". To be fair to Mark and those guys, most console gamers probably couldn't tell you how RISC is different from x86, or even what RISC is.

Cheapy D is such a fucking Xbox fanboy. I'm a big Xbox supporter but damn that dude just cannot let anything bad be said about Xbox One without saying something to counter. I stopped listening to his podcast because I just couldn't deal.

Another really good episode. I liked hearing from @cheapyd on the Xbox One and the Ray Barnholt segment was really good too as I found out about a game series I never knew existed and that I now want to find out more about.

I agree with everyone saying that this was really hard to listen to. I listen to the podcast pretty regularly and the fact that they were GOING OFF on the used-games thing and somehow defending Sony's position on the used-games thing was really off-putting.

At some point someone even said 'Oh I like the Remedy thing' and then everyone agreed, and then someone back-tracked and was like 'OH NO REMEDY WENT TOO MUCH IN THIS DIRECTION'. It didn't seem insightful at all.

Tons on whining.

Someone was talking about how gut-reactions are totally valid. Pretty different from the Giant Bombcast last week about how gut-reactions are totally invalid (or was that the Tested podcast?... I don't remember now).

Weird podcast.

I would listen to this podcast again if Cheapy came back and was relentlessly mocked for being such a huge cock about Sony, considering all that has since happened. Though that's just a dream.
