For some reason, the file doesn't show up in my player after downloading and it's bumming me out.

I'm not worthy?

Wow! xD 'An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leathras', the one Irish phrase every Irish citizen knows. Haven't heard it said in, like, forever. :') So weird to hear that on a Giant Bomb feature. xD Great podcast guys! :D

I don't care about F-1 one bit. I pretty much listen to this for Drew and the Irish guy's voices. Especially the Irish dude.

This has made me care about F1. To the point that I'm acquiring the Melbourne race to watch, and have DVR ready to go for Malaysia.

@rustafur I just watched that documentary "Grand Prix: The Killer Years" just now on Vimeo ( http://vimeo.com/51735205 ) it is excellent and astonishing to watch. If you are coming into F1 like myself without knowing much, this history lesson is harrowing and existential. I also recommend watching Senna. Amazing documentary and serves as a great follow up through the years of F1.

I have NBC Sports, so it's not an issue of catching them live. It's that I missed Melbourne and want to watch it. ;)

I love how Danny flawlessly(?) lapsed from Australian(?) into a weird District 9 / Blood Diamond mash up. Unlike the engine noise of current day F1 vehicles, it was definitely sexy enough.

Also, I find it amusing that Niki, with a surname that is a homophone for 'louder', is involved in the engine noise debate.

Danny, if you're reading this, I feel bad about writing the snarky Arsenal e-mail after hearing your reaction to it, about missing London and going to the games and that. I'm a Spurs man myself and it's not like we haven't conceded a bunch of goals to the big teams... Did you see the comedy sending off of Kieran Gibbs instead of the Ox? Andre Marriner didn't even get a one match ban, he even got assigned a new game next week, got away absolutely scot free despite his and his colleagues' really odd mistake.

Oh and I absolutely love the Irish Car Bombcast (and the other stuff you do), cheers!

So no intro for this one? Just straight into it? Is the Irish guy the dude from GameSpot? Am I just supposed to know? Seriously, Drew is great and this other dude seems fine, but notice how every week on 90% of podcasts do a intro of the hosts and format each week... It's for a reason. Honest feedback.

I'd actually would say yes, you are supposed to know what you are getting into. It's an F1 podcast behind a paywall on a videogame website. I'd imagine the % of people just stumbling into this is rather low.

You think that an F1 podcast, on a video game website, where neither of the hosts introduces themselves and the only description is "Australia requires more sexy, Red Bull gives you appeals.... etc" should make it obvious? I figured Alt+F1 would mean it's some kind of help/advice/reader email podcast. I'd say the percentage of people stumbling across this wouldn't be insignificant. I did. I'm not saying don't do it, just fine tune it.

Relax dude.

Hah, don't feel bad - it was nice to chat about it. I went to a game in White Heart Lane before too. Great supporters. Better than Chelski! ;)

Hey, thanks for the link! A great look back at the earlier times of F1. That footage of David Purley at the end was heartbeaking.

I'm in all the way now, guys. I enjoyed watching Australia last week and now I'm setting up an alarm to be up for the qualifying at 7am on Saturday (and obviously the race at 8am Sunday). Loving the show, I wake up every Monday now looking forward to listening!

One of my favourite moments with Button was when he appeared as the guest on Top Gear back in '06 he had competed in 112 F1 races without a win, and when Clarkson asked him whether he would exchange the money and lifestyle for that first win he answered a definitive "yes" in a heartbeat. The best part was that he went on to win his first race right after that episode aired, and then onto his championship win a couple of years later. Seems like a really nice guy.

I don't really have a favourite, but as a Brit myself Button (and similarly Hamilton) do draw an extra little smile out of me when they perform well, just because of the nationality link.

The cars are faster on straights and slower in corners this year becouse of stricter aerodynamic regulations with less downforce. The engines have less power than last year and has nothing to do with it.

Khabar baik @drewbert. Terima kasih kerana menjemput kami kepada podcast ini. Tak sabar saya menanti perlumbaan F1 hujung minggu ini.

Hot tips for y'all on the Malay language, if the the first syllable have consonant and e, it is generally a schwa. Such as 'se'lamat, 'ke'reta and 'Se'pang.

The vowel rules aside from the above, you just pronounce them vowels like you would pronounce them in spanish and japanese. Course this is standard Malay pronounciation rules, Peninsular Malaysians have habit of adding Schwa to words ending with A such as 'ke' re 'te' (kereta).

The sound of the cars is much MUCH better now. It used to be awful. Having to wear earmuffs to just attend a race is just stupid.

Also half 8 = 7:30

I've never understood the confusion there. It's just a shortening of "half past eight" thus "half eight".

I live in the states and am one of the few people who prefer a manual transmission over an automatic. I just bought a used vehicle manufactured in 2010 with a manual transmission that the previous owner had to make a special order through a local dealership to get. It makes you feel like you're actually operating a machine. Not hating on automatic drivers, though different strokes and all that.

The confusion is people mistake the missing word from "past" to "to". We say quarter to eight, so half to eight is what we assume when someone says half eight.

No one has ever said 'half to eight', though.

They have in Germany, where "halb acht" means 7:30.

Never had any experience with a manual and always demanded automatics, but I like that more models these days offer paddle shifting as standard (including my new vehicle!) so I'm going to have some fun with manual shifting for the first time.

For my race fix I like Moto GP instead of F1. The closeness of the motocycles to each other is amazing and sometimes it is hard to believe the bikes can lean over that far and keep traction ( hint, sometimes they can't ). I didn't watch F1 last year and I have watched it since the Senna days, the lack of true competitiveness drove me away and over to the motorcycles. The new rules in F1 have me back watching but I'm hoping Mercedes won't run away with it. Love the podcast.

I think what he's saying is that a lot of people who are here probably follow these guys pretty closely. They are subscribers, after all. Drew and Danny have talked about wanting to start this on Unprofessional Fridays and maybe the regular podcast too.

Hell, most subscribers have known who "the Irish guy" was since that Bioforge stream.
