Quick Look: Bayonetta 3

Game's great. Despite it being on crappy hardware, it's blowing me away with its ambition and what they're pulling off. But the nice thing about Bayonetta is that the gameplay's razor sharp, too, it's not just relying on impressive set pieces.

If only it wasn't tied to the Switch!

My interest in this game went down to zero after reading about how they seemingly threw all of Bayonetta's character development in the toilet and made Luka a centerpiece of the story. The first piece of dialogue in this quick look being the characters talking about a man being their savior is exactly what I was worried about, feels like a real 180 from the female empowerment of the first couple games.

Viola seems kinda obnoxious as well from what was shown off. Even if the gameplay is good, i feel like i would be better served replaying Bayonetta 2 or something (been a while, i played the original Wii U release way back when).

Man Grubb and Dan are down right hilarious in this.

I feel like they really missed the point of Viola. She's basically the equivalent of Nero from DMC4, the newbie walking in the footsteps of the established character, but not ready or experienced enough to share the limelight with them. Yes, her rock-and-roll edginess is cringey, but it's on purpose. She THINKS she's hot shit, and ready to be a badass; but her boisterous personality reveals just how immature (and inexperienced) she is, compared to Bayonetta.

Now... I haven't seen everything from the story, so I can't say if there's a satisfying pay-off to her character, that's worth her being annoying throughout the game; but I just felt I needed to say something when Jeff & Dan seem to flat disregard a kinda common character archetype in these Character Action games

@axl159: thought the same thing, especially after watching his ExtraLife Stream for hours and the sound was great, really weird.

Plenty of people would see the last part with over-the-top stuff happening and Bayonetta and quickly tell you...ehhh kinda MID game, nothing mindblowing or crazy, kinda been there done that...nothing special IMO fell flat for me...pass 7/10 at best...lol

I guess when people see crazy stuff and im like wow and they're completely ehh on...this is the stuff they see on the regular. The type of people who think god of war's 2018 was basic and boring during the cinematic fights dry ball this Bayonetta stuff on the reg and call it weak. XD.

I liked this presentation. I will wait for the release and try everything.
