This is always a great feature. I love how Vinny seems to be more and more in to the game every episode!

You might want to check this out it increases drop rate by 10% and you don't really feel like your cheating cause your still going to spend hours grinding to get everything.

Only Giantbomb can make a grinding episode super enjoyable still. but can definitely tell they are still into the game.

How the fucking fuck does Dan not know about the high jump. I mean dude platinum the game and doesn't know the basic stuff?

I love Dan so much but sometimes he is really dumb.

So if Dan never used the high jump, that means he went through the Den of Behemoths only using invert? That sounds like a huge pain.

Why is it so crazy that he didn't get high jump? I didn't get it either. I just looked it up, and it's something you need to craft with an item you find from one kind of enemy in one area. It's not that shocking that someone could miss that.

I'm more shocked he didn't know if you upgrade a yellow shard all the way it becomes white.

I think this is my favorite Giant Bomb series of 2019. Watching them navigate the game's weirdness, and crafting, alongside Dan's raw enthusiasm and Alex's incredulity is just great.

He DID get it. He platinumed the game which means he got 100% of the shards. He just never thought to use it.

You don't have to worry about sacrificing sword expertise if you craft greatsword expertise. Crafting will never consume shards. Greatsword expertise was one of the most useful passive shards I used.
Of course I had it upgraded to to the max and equipped, combined with a fully upgraded optimizer. With all of that greatswords became both very strong and also very fast to use.

I can't stand watching vinny just run away and not fight the enemies... *edit* not that it matters he manages to make it.

Also I don't know why they haven't told him to use the rhava burals because that's a totally rad sword despite the low damage.

I used maybe 10 shards the entire game and stopped even bothering to read their names/descriptions after a while. Maybe he got that shard at the end of the game grinding for the platinum and he never thought to actually check it out?

Either way, it's hardly worthy of the typical "omg Dan is so dumb!!" response.

Vinny probably has the materials to make the Oracle Blade. It's the leveled up version of the Flying Edge. It only has an attack of 30 but its a range is incredible. @danryckert

I'm glad that they are taking some time to grind and collect materials, and it's actually fun to watch too!

@swazzyswess: It just goes to show how little platinum actually means. I never even tried to platinum a game and I easily figured out these things by reading the info the game gives me.

@unclebenny: yea, this has been killing me. He went through the effort to get it (and a bunch more, but he won’t be able to use those for ages) but hasn’t even tried it out, I assume because the damage stat is low. Thing is it’s soooooo fast, I did almost the entire game using that, before crafting the upgraded version.

it’s also killing me that they run away from fights so much and don’t hit the lamps etc. I appreciate it’s probably from a desire to keep things moving forwards for the video, but it’s actually made it a lot harder to progress now.

p.s don’t eat the food as soon as you make it, save it until you need healing, as it does that too

I tuned out of this series a while ago. I'm hoping they move on to something else soon.

Man, it's really funny that the response in the comments to the revelation that "this game has so much in it that even someone who platinumed it missed certain details" is one of condescension.

They've been doing that, but is it really worth it? Waiting until you need some health recovery to get the stat upgrade just to save some money?

I feel dumb, what was funny about the Crimsonite?

@foodmonster: They spent so much time farming for it, just to immediately get another one as a quest reward.

Specifically, a quest reward for killing only 6 of the same enemy they spent that time farming for Crimsonite.

I find something very relaxing watching this feature.

This has descended DEEPLY into Vinny's grinding and fusion episode of P4 Endurance Run territory. :P

This has become my favorite video GB series of the year. Everyone just seems to be having a great time, even Alex as the skeptical one seems to be in good spirits. I fell off Bloodstained earlier in the year and this feature inspired me to get back in, and I'm having tons of fun.

Also, some of y'all are being way too harsh on Dan, good lord. This game is dense with mechanics, it's very understandable to miss some shit.

It's because they spent so much time trying to get the same thing earlier.

God, the heretical grinder is such a bad shard. It's incredibly funny to look at but it's like comically mana inefficient and does pretty bad damage. Vinny's gear isn't even that bad, but the damage shards are pretty weak. It's a shame they didn't get a copy of 8-bit Fireball when they went into that hidden level because that shit is super strong and drops from the generic enemies, but I'm pretty sure they do have Flying Dagger/Riga Storaema (requires a couple of rubies to upgrade it before it gets really good) which is what I used for 80% of the game.

Vinny taking MORE damage avoiding enemies then he would have taken killing them, was really makig me squirm!
