I second this. I don't actively follow TB but whenever I view some his content, I feel like I'm getting smarter. Probably his accent has something to do with it.

TB is wack. His child-like freak-outs about buggy games are awful and embarrassing and his world of warcraft radio show where I heard him first was un-listenable. Please not more of this guy. Please please please please

TB was a good guest. It's always nice to hear him talk about stuffs.

Check out "Tasteful, Understated Nerdrage" and "Mattmatosis" for a couple gaming critics on youtube who I think are much more rational and thoughtful than Totalbiscuit.

I find it interesting that Patrick and TB seem to work so well despite having literally the opposite ideals in a lot of ways; especially how to treat an audience. Patrick gave a TED Talk about how it's important not to just shrug off criticism and thoughts from online communities. TB gave us this wonderful quote:

When I first heard TotalBiscuits voice, I placed it to a skinny nerd with thick glasses (someone like benedict cumberbatch, or something. I dunno, sometimes they have deep voices). Nice to see that great of a voice appropriatly matched to a burly dude.

Gotta echo TB on Path of Exile, it's a solid game if you're into that sort of thing. It's a shame to see how little coverage it got on Giant Bomb this year.

Great episode. I think it was more informative than the Rev3 episode about this subject since it was more focussed.

Regarding TB, he's a huge and vocal fan of GB, so he can't be all bad. I think he's quite insightful about games, but I've never liked the way he treats fans from time to time, and his Twitter persona.

Still, a good discussion.

I don't follow TotalBiscuit regularly, but he's clearly said something to make a certain portion of the internet angry at him. Thought he was pretty good here though.

I remember seeing that image on /v/, so I dunno if you can really call into question a guys morality based on a picture 4chan made. They even chose that allergy pic where his face is all blown up just to twist the knife. I've followed him for years and he does not act like that. The quote is completely taken out of context and doesn't explain the situation. Anyone that follows him instead of getting all their information from image macros knows how valuable he thinks constructive criticism is and from how he acted on the show today, he's obviously not the prick you make him out to be

Could TB at least give them his full attention.....he looks like he is distracted or is it cos his monitor to the side and he is looking at them? However I found it distracting also his big mic looks so out of place!

TB has at least 2 monitors. This isn't real life, you don't have to be looking at someone on a Google hangout. His hangout page could be on his 2nd monitor. Also are you really complaining that he has a proper microphone? Oh the humanity, how dare he buy proper equipment for his job!

Why so much venom, comment section? Are you a Snake? Because a Snake has venom. Not all Snakes, just some of them. Some people eat Snakes, like Snake from Metal Gear Solid - Snake Eater. He eats Snakes.

Some guy insulted him after he stated matter-of-fact that he didn't take requests (he's had to post that hundreds of times). One of his subscribers then posted an insulting remark that implied he didn't make the content his viewers wanted to watch, which makes no sense at all and then he pointed out that he makes content his viewerS want to watch, not what this one viewer wants to watch.

He cares about the majority of his viewers, like he should, he has lots of people to look out for. He's being very honest about that and not pretending everyone is his best friend just because they watch his channel. That moment in particular is one of the reasons I stayed subscribed because I know he's always going to tell the truth which is pretty important when you are relied on for game criticism. He's on our side.

This gets posted anywhere TotalBiscuit is mentioned, it's really tired out by now. Judge him on the merits of what he said on the show and not this ad hominem b.s.

Um, i'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Are the things people say in public online now completely inconsequential?

Yeah, sure, criticising somebody based on something they said is totally "ad hominem b.s.", not just common sense. Sounds to me like you've got a bit of stockholm syndrome, responding to a comment literally saying that you do not matter to TB with "He cares about his viewers". There's a vast difference between ending it with "I don't take requests" and going on to rant about how you don't give a fuck about your viewers as individuals.

Luckily that YouTube comment rant was just an isolated incident, right?

TB is a cool guy - I don't follow all his stuff but I respect him when he shows up.

@lackingsaint: the youtube community is famous for their stupid comments. I thought this was a well known fact. Maybe I'm still recovering from that stupid bob bullshit. I am usually not the biggest fan of TB, i think he's okay, but I thought he was really good here. Giant Bomb brings out the best in people, hopefully.

If some of the comments here have taught me anything, it's that the only thing I hate more than jerks who condescend to their audience are the people in that audience who happily make excuses for being condescended to.

Damn good show. It's a trio of gaming people the internet loves to hate. I can't imagine how many people will post comments hating on at least one person. TB is definitely worth another invite, even though he does talk a lot :)

I'm a big fan of TotalBiscuit. Super excited to watch him on Bombin' right now.

As for the whole brouhaha in this comment thread about whether he cares for each subscriber like they're his own children or whether he thinks they're worthless vermin, I'm guessing the answer is somewhere in between. TB is prone to 'engage' the people that troll him, like Gabe from Penny Arcade or Phil Fish. He's getting better about it but he still tangles with people when they grind his gears. His comment above is not reflective of what he's like most of the time.

He's never going to be the sort of guy who really wants to get in there and hug every one of his subscribers. It doesn't bother me. I like the content he puts out. He never attacks anyone personally. But if you go up to him and demand that he needs to listen to your request because you're one of his precious subscribers and he must acquiesce to your demands if you matter at all to him, he's going to tell you that he doesn't care about you.
