@dezztroy: Yeah, trolls are super awesome!!!!!!11111!111!!!!oneoneone!!!

Oh, please. He gave Brad plenty of chances to kill him, he wasn't even fighting back for most of the fight. Brad had it coming, and I'm glad it happened because watching Brad die to stupid shit is funny.

The lizard addiction of brad is literally the funniest shit ever. I'm probably the only person who prefers Brad behind the wheel in a souls game rather than Vinny. Vinny's trolling is alot more entertaining than 2 other guys telling him where to go and what to do.

I've been trying to work this out too. I love Vinny's bravado during Dark Souls of just launching himself at stuff and killing NPCs (either by accident or on purpose) and just kind of reacting to what that game throws at him. Brad is also pretty great with his quirks like Crystal Lizard addiction or desperately worrying about missing stuff in a game that is all about missing stuff because of the labyrinthine steps it takes to see a good 40% of the game.

Just play offline. This invading garbage is annoying. Morons trying to get their 15 minutes of fame and make the stream all about them.

This.

If you like completely one-sided PvP where players get bullied by someone with ten times their experience, then the Souls series might be for you! May I also suggest going down to the nearest park and beating up small children?

Granted, Brad has had one or two fair fights (and actually almost beat the original scraping spear guy if he had just remembered to heal more), but I think the fair ones have probably mostly been GB users who started playing the game around the same time as Brad. The instances where Brad won really cannot have possibly been guys who have been doing this for months/years.

Like, invasions are a cool idea in theory, From Software, but you're too much of a shit developer to properly balance PvP. No offense, but I feel like From is kind of a bad developer that just made a good game by complete fluke (Demon's Souls), and are now riding it because it became a big weird hit. You lucked out and made this super interesting game, but balancing multiplayer is still not your strong point.

Like, really? The NPCs remain in the world during invasions, and are perfectly hittable? You never considered that players (who one should always assume are awful people) might bait others into attacking NPCs, since there is no repercussions to the invading player? From Software: a bunch of fucking amateurs.

One or two hits by mistake is not enough to aggro a NPC. And the (overblown) one-sided nature of the PVP is a product of the fact that this game is now 5 YEARS OLD. How is this different from any competitive multiplayer game? Try jumping into Gears or CoD or Halo multiplayer fresh right now and enjoy getting destroyed by people with way more experience/skill than you.

Also, Brad had ample opportunity to defeat the invader in this episode (which I assume is what got everyone all in a tizzy once again) if not for his painful indecisiveness. Like we've seen so many times before, if Brad just pressed his attack and played more aggressively everything would have turned out fine. Instead, it seems he doesn't learn from his mistakes and seems to overthink everything possible, in part because of people crying foul every time a perfectly fair PVP encounter occurs. You may not enjoy it, but please don't name call From Software just because you don't like the deliberate design decisions they made.

I was going to make another effort post about my observations of Brad's mentality going into this, but he actually saved me the trouble by freely admitting it in this video.

Brad is so worried about missing a single bit of content in an RPG, of all things, that he's practically driving himself crazy stressing about it. People talk about how the chat or Vinny keep trolling Brad, but they're barely doing anything: Brad trolls himself through sheer neurosis. Ostrava's moment of the level was timed, yes, but the timer wasn't active through the entire level (certainly didn't seem that way, at least). Vinny may or may not have known that, but he didn't spend that long trying to convince Brad of it, because Brad took the slightest implication that he might miss some content and blew it up in his head.

I wonder about his insistence that he'll never have an opportunity to play this on his own time, of course; everybody knows game releases are slow at both the start of the year and somewhere in the middle. I sincerely doubt there wouldn't have been time throughout the year to play an hour or two of Demon's Souls each week on his own. Especially since he doesn't seem to have a problem playing Dark Souls without streaming it. I get that he is a games journalist and his job necessitates playing a lot of games, but if they're genuinely taking up his time so much that his can't play games without it being part of his job, I'd tell him he should take a month off of work to just enjoy games at a reasonable pace again.

But then, I'd say that to just about all games journalists these days, so my opinion may be slightly invalid.

dear brad,
embrace your inner wizard.
you need a new spell, maybe a wizard hat.

also vinny's constant trolling is becoming a huge part of this feature for me.
i think the only people still playing this game, are people who wanna troll you.

Brad might be the worst person on the planet at video games

You should see Adam Sessler or some of the Rev3 dudes play games on livestreams. It´s not even funny anymore.

I love these videos because Brad is a perpetual underdog. You want to laugh when he fails and cheer for him when he succeeds.

Keep it up, Brad! :D

Man, I thought that invader was gangster. He gave Brad a fair chance and then straight headbutted him off a cliff. Also Vinny's anarchy is the spice of this feature.

Broken.

EDIT: Brad finds a summon sign just before one of the hardest sections of the game (and hardest bosses) and ignores it, and continues to ignore it when he gets invaded. P.S., Brad, you are bad at games.

This applies to most of these videos... :D But it's kinda entertaining in that annoying sense.

I think Brad is bad at split second decisions BUT over all he seems to be doing pretty good. He has few deaths and is getting through the game fairly fast with little gridning. He seemed to be overall good at the game. Not the best but not bad like most people said in the comments. Remember, it's just his quick decisions that are bad.

I wish Brad hadn't just stuck with the first good weapon he found and even go so far as build his character around it. He doesn't even experiment at the very beginning when he had found the crescent falchion or briefly with that mace in 5-1. He could have easily made another crescent weapon, or any number of others, if he actually bothered to figure out how the upgrading worked. He doesn't even look at most of the weapons he picked up; let alone take out and swing around to see if he likes them.

Don't get me wrong because I'm enjoying these videos (I know this is months after the fact) but that annoys me.

Whenever I see Blacksmith Ed I think of that great line delivery: "BRING ME A DEMON SOUL!!" after you give the Flamelurker soul.

People in the comments/chats treated the material drops from them like they were critical items in a Sierra Adventure game. "IF YOU DON'T GET THEM NOW, YOU'RE FUCKED IN 20 HOURS!!!!!!!!!"
