That boss is my favorite. The sword you use in there is so friggin cool.

Every time he beats a boss I laugh. I laugh that he is that more close to being out of options and having to go back to world 5 which will be nothing but gloriously pain filled. Although real talk beating that blind guy first time was pretty good. I know my dumb ass took like 4-5 attempts before I beat him.

This is just making me more excited for Dark Souls 2. I wish I had played Demons Souls more but the more into this generation we get the less likely I will do it anytime soon.

I always get a little giddy when Brad gets surprised and angered a character or boss did something...even though that character also did that thing to Brad about 15 times previously. He always gets just as surprised.

Someone needs to make a sound clip of Vinny's impression of a lizard, and somehow import it into DS2.

It took me so long to figure out how to kill this boss. Who knew that this particular sword wasn't really a sword?!

Try Blocking?

That area at the end is really satisfying. If I were playing this game, I would hang out there for a while.

@brad Old King Doran's sword is doing MAGICAL damage to you. Magic damage bypasses your stamina completely and does direct damage to you. Your Heater Shield +10 is actually worse against him because it doesn't block as much magical damage as your Dark Heater Shield. So if you want a good magical defense shield you can either keep trying to upgrade your Dark Heater shield or get the Dark Silver Shield from the boss of 5-3 (That shield has 100% magic defense by the way.) Also equipping the Ring of Magical Sharpness is dangerous because it reduces your defense against magical damage.

And I'm not 100% sure on this but I don't think you'll get any substantial damage boost by two-handing your sword. I believe that would only slightly increase it's physical damage (which is small) but would not increase the magical damage it is doing.

EDIT: That Dark Silver Shield requires a Strength stat of 16 to use.

If they do I hope Vinny is in the driving seat.

Old King Doran is not to be trifled with. I cheesed him and it still took me tons of times to beat him.

Hah! Wow, I've never seen the Old King heal himself. Then again, I usually do the shitty method of leashing him to kill him.

The NPC enemies in this game are sooo fucking hard compared to Dark Souls. I'd love to see Brad fight Satsuki or Scirvir.

Heck yah it is. I had quite a great moment when I took it into another world thinking it's easy-mode from now on and was quite surprised when it just thunked clumsily against my enemies - leading to a swift death.

Great boss.

How sad is it that it took Vinny mentioning Watchdogs to Brad to remind me how excited for that game i am? I really want to play it but i guess i fell off the hype train after the delay.

Oh, Brad. Ohhhhh, @brad. Different. Item. We're talking about the "Shard of archstone," *not* the "Nexial Binding." I think there's a part of streaming a game alongside a friend (Vinny) that causes people to not devote their full attention to the game. You were looking right at it before. Sounds like you didn't devote your full attention to reading those criticisms, either...

Haha Brad still misunderstanding what the Shard of Archstone does was great. As was his general awful frustration at constantly ruining lizard-encouters.

You can see the red mist descend as soon as he sees one and all plans or thought goes out the window.

how do Brad still get surprised when he tries to eat while in an animation and nothing happens? It's called animation priority, souls games are known for it.

A million souls and still he goes for the lizards, watching that live was not good for my heart.

The solution to Vinny and Brad being iffy about playing DS2 for review, get Jeff to do it!

When Brad is done with this game someone need to make a compilation of Brad's "Lizard Rage" moments :D They crack me up so much.

Brad needs to upgrade his armour, he is getting nearly killed in one blow by a lot of things now.

Also @brad don't forget that your sword's damage scales with the Magic stat.

You seem so reluctant to put points into Magic, I think you're under the impression that it only makes your spells better?

I feel bad for Drew in the control room. Perhaps he keeps a book in there or something.

I really like these streams. I have tried demon souls and dark soul but couldn't really get into it, but still find this very interesting. Maybe i'll try DS2 but i wish it was on PS4, not just because of the graphics, but because ever since i got that Controller I can't stand the old one.

Someone should seriously make a compilation of Brad going apeshit over these crystal lizards. It's comedy gold!

Getting those FFX ultimate weapons was so infuriating. I've never thrown a controller or anything but that was definitely the most rage inducing game moment for me.

Here's the reason Brad shouldn't listen to advice from the internet.

1- Telling him straight up ''go there, grab that stuff right over in that area'' is the reason his character turned into a class he doesn't want to play. Knowing where all the best stuff and how to one shot bosses *cough* firestorm *cough* breaks the game so hard it's not even funny.

2- Using the dark heater is a terrible idea on doran because he can empty brad's stamina in one shot to that shield no matter how upgraded it is. Brad might take some damage using the regular heater +10 but he can heal and won't get staggered and die stupidly like the 5 other times he fought that guy. If Doran can't heal forever (He can't can he?) it's just a battle of attrition. Keep the shield up and when doran wiffs, strick him twice and back off. Heal when your shield gets hit. Done.

I'm pretty sure the only benefit of a regular shield over a dark one is the guard break reduction, which in the case of this shield isn't hugely significant. The damage reduction stats are the same except for the added magic reduction for the dark one, so I'm not sure why he broke it down.

It still baffles me that game guides in book form are still a thing! Both in that you can find info for free online and that people will want to own a book that tells them how to play the game, rather than experiencing it for themselves. I had most of the Pokemon ones back in the day, but that was more about having a physical Pokedex book.

That is probably the fastest path for the game getting one, two, or even NO stars for a review. :P

When he was going on about weird Soul Ray strategies for those lizards when had a fuckhuge sword that rips a tear through time and space and kills multiple monsters in one strike, I was dying a little inside. Commenting while playing really seems to do a number on those logic circuits.

Dodging 200 lightning strikes in FFX. Truly the worst.

Good call on the Ultimate Weapons Brad. One of the first things that came to mind.

Long ago in a distant land, From software, the game developing masters of darkness unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish wizard warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose them. Before the final boss was beat they tore open a portal in time and flung him into the past where Demons' Souls is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the present and prepare for the future that is Dark Souls 2.

Those lizards are the reason why I find Demon's souls considerably more random and annoying than dark souls ( although the general challenge of this game seems a bit cheaper as well). I'm currently in NG++ and I'm yet to find a pure darkmoonstone. Consider that I only missed 2 shrine of storms lizards on my first run and 1 on my second run... It's simply frustrating.

I'm not sure about this but i heard that if you go ghost and help another player defeat a Demon in the same world the spawn counter might increase but I have not been able to test this.

ALSO if you take your world tendency to pure black ( die many times in human form ) the lizards are more likely to drop the higher value items.

A good approach is to roll when just closing in on the lizards since they dont react to rolls, but it does take a while to get the timing right.

Also @brad.. someone said it, Old king doran and soul/demon brand do magic damage. Your +10 regular heater shield only blocks 30% of magic damage.. so you are better off with pretty much any other shield.

About armor... in general.. armor means very little in Demon's Souls, even less than Dark Souls. There are some exceptions but you mostly get defense by simply levelling... so you go with whatever is most fabulous and lets you roll at respectable speed.

Anyway... pick up the pace doods.. we still have the most amazing fun time of Latria's tower and Valley of defilement... dare I say some of the most annoying levels in any game ever.

Okay, I've been wondering about this since the very beginning of coverage on this, so maybe someone can answer me: what in the world is the point of the "I'm in trouble--please recommend this message!" glyph? What does that even accomplish?
