I feel completely different. It's the most annoying thing about these videos.

After the stream, other people confirmed what I suspected at the time, that the sword wouldn't do squat for damage against the lizards and they'd just run away. C'mon, it's a Souls game. They aren't going to give you a sword that absurdly powerful and let you use it effectively in just any old situation.

Yes, I know you guys were talking about the shard and I knew how it works. I only have two of them and opted not to waste one for only 20k souls. Not sure what's so hard to understand here.

Yeah I can't help but laugh when I hear Brad's lizard fury. In my play through the sticky compound bow and thief ring made lizards really easy to snipe.

Am I the only losing respect for Brad during these streams? I never took the whole, "Brad is bad at games" thing seriously but this is just... man.

His obsession with the lizards is too much.

Streams and Let's Plays (let's call them what they are) are easy ways to make a lot of content with minimal production effort. A lot of the recent video content has been from Patrick, too, who can't do much more else to contribute video besides streaming games (and his morning show).

In my opinion, though, if you look back through the last six months, you can see that the change really started when Ryan died. It took the wind out of everybody's sails for the couple of weeks after the news hit, but they never really got it back fully. Understandably so, but just about everyone at the site has had a little less life and energy in them since then and the enthusiasm for putting work into new features doesn't seem to be strong enough to do more than just stream a game for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

There could also be corporate interest behind it; somebody may have gotten ahold of some data that gave enough proof that doing an LP of a game gets the most views for the time and energy (money) that goes into it.

It may also have to do with the fact that the start of the year is starved for game releases, of course. And people that are involved with other features, like the Pathfinder campaign they got started on, aren't always available. Plus, it's a website about videogames; I'm pretty sure you can count on one hand the number of video features they've done that aren't them playing videogames in some capacity.

I don't remember the users posting comments always being so nerdy.

I love watching these. I wish I could watch Brad play through Dark Souls, too.

I'm just now getting back into Dark Souls. I stopped around launch mainly because of Ornstein and Smough. With better knowledge and a better equipped character I beat them the second try. Felt soo good. Just completed Catacombs/Tomb of Giants.

C'mon Dark Souls 2!

Don't review Darksouls2 straight away....just do a day long playthrough with Matt, Brad and Vinny alternating control between them. That would be awesome !!

I love the guy but, man, Brad's brain works weeeeeird.

The thought process by which people telling him to equip something stealthy to fight a blindfolded enemy was probably a red herring because the one thing boosting stealth in his inventory would probably relate to some arbitrary aggro range was amazing.

That's some Borges/Dalí/Lewis Carroll surrealism operating inside that noggin' and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Is it just me, or do the graphics in Demon Souls look better than those in Dark Souls?

Yes, I realize that. But they get off of work at 5 or something, and these streams regularly go to 6 and sometimes past that. You can hear it in his voice that he wants to leave, but he never complains or tries to push them along. Even if he;'s getting paid, he still stays past his regular hours so we can watch Brad and Vinny try to decipher this game.

I get paid if I can't close in my allotted time, but that doesn't mean I want to be there past that time.

Just for his sanity, I really hope Brad is able to get a Pure Darkmoonstone. Lizards are the only source and he has few chances left. What really a crappy game mechanic.

This feature really goes from exciting and hilarious, to tedious and annoying, then sometimes up again but mostly like the latter at the best of times.

Wow. Brad might be one of the dumbest or possibly most psychotic people I've ever seen play a game.

Man, just ignoring those cloudstone drops left and right, huh? And trying to run in and melee multiple enemies that are scattering that require 3-4 hits each while other enemies that spear you if you stand still too long are around. Vinny had that pegged.

Should probably take off that Orange Lantern ring first, it's not doing you any favors, Brad. Just saying.

/shrug. Call it what you like. An Endurance Run is a very specific daily commitment (or else there is hell to pay) through a game with a start and a finish. We don't normally call Live Shows, Quick Looks, but sometimes the content results in the same thing. I wouldn't even call Spelunkin' an ER except for the very last episode. I'm fine with one-off ERs. ;) /baddudes

He did give that, "So..." thing near the end there. Even stoic Drew was beginning to crack under the Crystal Lizard Obsession.

Dude, Brad obsessing over lizards is so much fun to watch. He places so much value on something he doesn't need at all. It's Brad. It's funny. It's typical. It's Breaking Brad. It does what it is supposed to do.

It was Brad's Ahab-like desire to kill Doran that made him equip Firestorm, which in turn made him not have Soul Ray to kill those lizards.

Tbh, I'm pretty annoyed by that shit as well. I try to watch these streams because I really like DeS but I always find myself turning them off when Brad starts screaming like a maniac. It's dumb. Not stupid in a fun way, it's just dumb.

Brad and Vinny talking about the DS2 strategy guide in this video is the first time I ever heard about it. Looked at the amazon page, cancelled my preorder. There's no point in getting it day 1 to take part in the internet's discovery of the game if they just dump all the info into a book on release day. Might as well wait for the PC version or a steam sale, even.
