So glad I didn't come into this game with any sort expectations. It's a fun RPG in a cyberpunk world- don't go into it expecting it to redefine all of gaming, no single game is going to do that from a technical standpoint I don't think ever again, we'll likely be getting smooth iterative upgrades for the foreseeable, just based on game development cycles and what it takes to actually build a game this big. All that said, the vibes are cool and the game is fun, it's an RPG first and foremost, and it does that relatively well. I'd advise folks out there to wait another 3 to 6 months and this game will be in an amazing spot.

I wasn’t liking it at first, but the game has grown on me. Evelyn Parker seems like a deep character and I am starting to get engrossed. Some of the tone can still be off putting though.

This game doesn't look like fun. Watching Vinny trying to play it shows. Everything is so confusing and convoluted. So many options and crap blinking on the screen. Vinny spends a lot of time wrestling with the user interface and game functionality.

@colourful_hippie: I wish they had the Deus Ex (2000) Hong Kong theme music.

I wish. The music continues to be the biggest miss for me. The closest I heard something that meshed well with the ongoing action was during a flashback sequence around when you get the late title card.

Alex had never been more right when he said "maybe its just because I haven't played this ..." I had no idea what was happening during that first combat sequence

Thank gosh it's not just me. Sometimes I feel like an old-ass man, but this initial combat sequence baffled my pants right off of my old-ass butt. What is that yellow line? What is Ram and how does it replenish? Why would you want to hack cameras I haven't felt so lost since the first time I tried to play The Division.

Edit: Also whatever AA solution this game has going on looks like vaseline smeared across the screen. See the elevator ride at 1:14:40.

Edit edit: Also maybe I am just some old dumass but that map screen is extremely fucking confusing holy shit. I cannot make out what's going on for heads or tails of me.

I haven’t laughed at a game this much in a while. It has some really funny bugs.

@the_nubster: This is pretty much what the Witcher was for me when first seeing all the different spell names and pure *stuff*. Reckon it's something a player is introduced to over time, and likely a natural part of the game after a while.

The downside to all the convolution is that it doesn't present as well as, say, a Call of Duty game, which is a thrill ride.

Have the same card Vinny has, but turned ray tracing off. Ray tracing is nice, but is the biggest frame killer. Looks fine without it.

It might not be as broken as Fallout 76 but this is a truly abysmal launch for such a tentpole game, and especially one that has had such a lengthy development. I don't doubt by summer next year it'll be mostly fixed but that doesn't forgive the state it is in right now.

I've been playing this for over 30 hours now. In the beginning I thought it was very good. Its actually been pretty technically smooth for me. I get some visual bugs but none of the game play interrupting bugs shown here have happened in my playtime. Don't know if that's due to the day 1 patch or what.

As I've progressed though I've really taken a lot of notice to what is missing. It's so incomplete. So many mechanics I look at and think "yeah, I can see what you were going for with this, I've seen other games do this mechanic but its clear you didn't finish it." Other games give you gameplay relevant reasons to use that mechanics but in Cyberpunk it feel like its just there in case you feel like doing it.

Play non lethal? Sure I guess if you want. Boost up your stat to unlock a dialogue option? Sure if you like that its there. Those options don't make any meaningful difference though. Take for example that cyberpsycho they take down at the end of this quicklook. Jeff is right, they do want you to not kill the cyberpsycho. What he doesn't realize is that you won't kill them. You can win by blasting them in the face with a lethal shotgun 10 times, they will always fall to the ground still breathing in the end. The game doesn't want you to kill them so it just makes your victory non-lethal no matter what you do. Vinny beat him by setting him ablaze and when he went down he was just knocked out, not dead. There are other parts of the game where you can get different dialogue if a character was or wasn't killed, but it doesn't change anything. The game doesn't branch off or reward you differently depending on if you went non-lethal. So many mechanics in this game feel like window dressing in that exact way.

Thankfully the main campaign has very nice set pieces and is fun to play through. Its obvious thats where most of their effort went, so you can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 as a simple thrill ride, not unlike how you would a Call of Duty.

I'm about 65 hours, I'm playing on a series X, I'm overall loving the game. I've gotten more used to the tone.

The game is definitely buggy though

So I'm about 8 hours in. Still in the prologue. It's... not great so far. The gunplay isn't fun. The world and setting is depressing (makes me not want to explore it). Every single side mission so far is, "hey the [insert gang here] has [occupied this space / kidnapped someone / has something you need to steal]. Get to it". I spent hours wandering the city, accomplishing a very minor amount of armor, materials, weapons, and money with no joyful memories to recite. It all blended together in a mess of just shooting gang members with some charging weapons.

I hope the game somehow hooks me in because, well... I paid for it. If nothing changes I'll likely start skipping all the side content and just mainline the game.

so I've played through this on PC now after all the updates and I really do not know why. It's just not a great game. It's fine but the side quests all are unbelievably boring, the main quests are fine but sometimes they just end and you think "that's it?" and it's disappointing very often.

There's almost no difference depending on the path you choose. Corpo etc. is just one more dialogue option and the answer almost every time is "you know your stuff" and that's it.

Being "chased" by the police still is broken, kill a civilian and no matter where you do it a drone spawns and if you run away it's over.

Performance with a 3080 was okay but sometimes the framerate just dips a lot during fights.

Also you don't really feel like your choices matter at all, the dialogue is fine but mostly "we're all fucked and VERY COOL" etc. I had some fun, some things were okay but man, this game is still very disappointing and the bugs weren't the biggest problem to begin with. I hope they use this template and make another one, the city looks amazing, but there's just NOTHING in it except random encounters like in an MMO?
