Love the report you guys have built together; I just finished MGS series and loved it. Love the Dan Carlin shout out at the beginning too; I love his other podcast Common Sense, a lot.

I've noticed Dan is very closed-minded about certain games and game genres, and particularly vocal about it. I would think working with Giant Bomb you would be a bit less broadly judgmental...or at least hold back the disdain for this kind of video series...you know, unless something is just genuinely horrible.

Their Fight Club talk makes me realize that both Palahniuk and Fincher have created a pop culture phenomenon that Andy Kaufman would be proud of. There are the people who think they get it but don't, the people who scratch their heads at it, and the people who are outraged by it. Also, spoilers - Tony Clifton is Andy Kaufman.

On another note, great video, love you guys.

Jeff Gerstmann is the same way but he typically has very rational arguments he can cite.

I'd really like to take part in the conversations at times. It's just a really obnoxious feeling not being able to state your opinion.

if I remember correctly, that tiny PS1 was officially named PS One (Take that, Microsoft). So that's why the first Playstation is often referred to as PSX instead of PS1.

It was called PSX because most consoles had three-letter abbreviations (hence the Gamecube often being referred to as NGC or, confusingly, GCN), and was called that before the PSone came out. Plus, Sony was a newcomer so nobody knew there would be future iterations, or that they would literally be called PlayStation Two. It's not like there were Genesis Twos and Nintendo Threes.

More confusingly is that there was also an actual thing called the PSX. Also, if my memory isn't entirely shit, the Gamecube was GCN because the Neo Geo Color already had the NGC initialism locked down.

When was the last time people watched this video Dan? Well, the question need not be when, rather who. Who would watch these videos? Drugs and nostalgia... pot and nostalgia, are a powerful team my friend.

Wow, that You Don't Know Jack section was a blast from the past. How innocently they touch on Middle East politics and man do I remember that "naked guy" at Berkeley.

I went to a rave when I was a delinquent druggy and it seemed only 10 minutes long because of all the drugs despite getting there at midnight and leaving at daylight. Wasn't much fun. There was a lot of dancing and a girl hit me with a cushion but it was harx to tell if she was attractive because of the drugs. And wine, I remember a red wine stall now.

Man, Dan's sleep-out-for-a-PS2 story reminded me how lucky I was.

I have an ...odd, family life history. While I was 14 and still occasionally living with my biological family at the time, I was required to get all my own stuff (food/clothes/etc). I did a ton of extra work (including medical studies!) to get enough money to afford a PS2.

I was primarily living with what I now consider my surrogate family, and both my surrogate brother and I decided to go to the local Best Buy to at least see what the madness looked like on launch day.

At 2 pm, we walked in and saw rows of empty shelves. Upon going over to the PSX section, I noticed a darker box behind like 5-6 grey PSX boxes. After moving the PSX boxes out of the way, I was surprised to discover an untouched pristine blue PS2 box.

We then promptly walked up to the Cashier, and I paid for the console. I then went back and bought some games. (Fantavision and Summoner was mine, Evergrace and Midnight Club was his). I was lucky as hell.

Since then I pre-order console launches.

I remember wishing Driver 2 was better than it was, because actually playing it was infuriating. That PS2 version of YDKJ seems pretty bad compared to the PC version, which already looked nicer back in 1995.

Did Dan and Drew really not know who Andrew House was in 2014? That's mind-blowing.
