Somebody needs to make a montage of "GB interview denied handshakes". This is the third one I've seen since yesterday.

Yeah, I kinda figured, since the video cut out less than 2 seconds after he put his hand out, that you probably turned to him almost immediately after and realized what was going on. We're just buggin' ya... ;)

I was excited for Sim City but with no option to save a city, try a wacky idea or let a monster rampage through it and then reload the save because of the always-connected nature of the game it means that I'll probably stick with SC4.

Geez, I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it, yeah. That was half the fun (some would argue more than half) of the previous Sim City games. How're they gonna address that?

Has anyone at Giantbomb played the SimCity games beyond SimCity 2000? So far there are definitely signs that this has been simplified from Sim City 4, which is not a good thing. I don't mean being made easier to understand, I'm talking about actually removing certain features.

Indeed. Back in grammar school if we went to the computer lab at the end of the day, it always culminated in either watching cities being torn apart or someone getting to the end of The Oregon Trail.

Regardless, it's been so long since I played a SimCity game that I'm pretty excited for this. I was watching the press conference with my buddy and went "Man... why are they spending so much time with this?" And a second later I answered my own question with "Man, Simcity's fucking awesome."

Is it too much to ask to tone down the bees-having-orgies music in the background of these interview vids? Gives headaches.

I really didn't want to jump on the bandwagon of hate here, but since the game requirements list a "Broadband connection of 256kb download minimum", and the fact that you can't buy the "expansions" on physical media....

Yeah, you can't play this like the original SimCity games, and you can't truly play this in single player mode. Boo.

Jeez, I'm out of the loop. Well damn, I agree then, that is pretty shitty. I couldn't care less about buying the expansions on physical media but an internet connection, which usually means bad drm but hopefully not, and no true single player may push me in the not buy category. Also someone said in the comments here, that there is no hard save which is a real turnoff. Half the fun was destroying your city for shits and giggles.

Is it strange that the only thing that turns me off about this game is that at one point it showed cars driving around and one of the cars was driving in the wrong lane for a brief moment.

@Devil240Z: I don't know about your city but in downtown New Orleans where it's mostly nothing but a grid of perplexing one-way streets with the occasional poorly marked two-way thrown in just for kicks, this is a fairly regular occurrence.

Did you watch the interview? Dude said pretty clearly that you can play it like a single player game or in a way wheere your town will be influenedd by other towns around you. I don't know about hard saves but it would be strange if you aren't able to atleast quicksave.
