I was really into this until he started shooting people.

I'm so fucking sick of shooting people. I was really excited to see some sort of cool espionage hacking game, but then he became a mass murderer and I was sad.

And I get he's an assassin or whatever but still.

Really weird that Jeff is not into this game.

This looks like "The adventures of the Laughing Man".

He's not? That's crazy. I thought Neuromancer was his bible.

He said it looked neat, but not made his heart skip a beat.

yeah. just because you're not freaking out and saying stupid hyperbolic things doesn't mean you're not into a game. and Jeff is a professional who has been around for ages. He almost never gets super hyped this early in a game's marketing cycle, so far as I can tell.

"In Watch Dogs you play as delusional internet toughguy Aiden Pierce, who loses his grip on reality and decides to kill all the characters from Arrested Development, starting with a local artist Aiden believes to be Tobias Funke. Acts of terrorism and mass murder ensue as Aiden gets ever closer to killing some guy he thinks is Ron Howard."

This looks like a good iteration on the Deus Ex formula.

@damnable_fiend: We also see him get excited about mania games on a daily basis however... haha

Either way it looks cool, but I feel like a lot of that is smoke and mirrors. As in, I believe it's all running on some machine, but more of it is scripted than it may let on. Like the accident at the traffic lights. Even so, exciting to get a glimpse of what the future might hold.

Might be possible. Confirmed that this demo is running on a PC. The traffic light thing might be scripted but I feel like you do have alot of options- rather than escaping the club you could allow yourself to be detained until the dude shows up and kill him then, not cause the accident and ambush him as he steps out of the car, etc.

:P well Jeff is the only person I have ever heard of who even cares about those games, so that's cool.

Game looked insane. I hope they can keep the voice acting and facial animations looking outstanding throughout. I'm not one to get hyped for games (I can't remember the last time I paid full price for one) but if this game pans out it might be the first Day 1 purchase that I can remember.

Tobias is an artist. Of the highest caliber.

This and Watch Dogs were the bright lights of a very dim show.

Thank god, I was disappointed by almost every other demo they have shown for E3 so far.

@damnable_fiend: I'm looking to read some cyberpunk. Which out of the 3 would you recommend the most?

I would recommend you read Neuromancer, followed by Pattern Recognition, both by William Gibson, and The Demolished Man and The Stars My Desination by Alfred Bester, which are proto-cyberpunk.

I also recommend Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, with the caveat that I thought the first half of that book was much more interesting than the latter half.

After that, you can check out the works of Bruce Sterling, particularly the Mirrorshades anthology, which will lead you to other authors in the genre as well.

oh, also, you should read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? the novel that inspired Blade Runner, by Phillip K. Dick.
