I always wanted to get this game way back when it first came out, on Saturn no less, but that's probably the explanation as to why I was never able to find it, just get teased by ads for it in Saturn magazines >_<

This is one of my Mom's favorite movies. Like, every time it's on TV, she watches it.

Yeah, Independence Day 2 is going to happen, Will Smith isn't gonna be in it though, he costs too much. supposedly about half the original cast will be back and half not, so maybe some Goldblum and Pullman. If you listen to Hollywood Babylon it's on movies that will suck this week.

It's one of the biggest, dumbest, funnest action movies ever made. I must've seen the damn thing on video 10 times in 6th grade...

Does anybody remember those Independence Day games that came on floppy discs that were packaged with all the action figures? I think I had one, which sort of played like the air combat sequences from old school xcom. Need to track all those floppy discs down... Or not. I guess people have a lot of better things to do...

This brings back some memories. I rented this back in the day and recall not enjoying it.

@masterofchaz: I think I have three of them as I got a normal alien, the blue alien and then that insane 18 inch tall version of the normal alien that had a sound board on it. I always wanted the dark blue/black one though, looked awesome. I don't remember playing the games though, might head to YouTube to see what they're about.

You got to admit. There isn't a whole lot that you can say about this game.

The best Independence day game is still that one level from Starfox N64.

I totally remember them. Or, well, I remember seeing them inside the packaging - I never bought any of those figures. I think each one came with a unique floppy.

As for the movie, my experience is almost identical to Patrick's — I loved aliens as a kid, was completely drawn in by the marketing campaign, and ended up seeing it over and over as a result.

I completely forgot about those floppy disk that came with the ID4 figures. I'm going to guess that there is a very good reason I forgot about them.

Just a random Thought. the sequel should be named ID42. Getting the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything on the title card would just be the right kind of dumb.

I remember this game being glitchy and kinda bad.

ID4 is still a great film even after all these years. Day After Tomorrow and 2012 are also pretty on also pretty on par for Roland Emmerich's movies, IMO.

Still don't really understand why anyone would want a sequel to ID4. What are they gonna do, have the aliens come back for revenge? Maybe have some intense ground battles where they're slaughtering humans in mech suits?

There's only room in my life for 1 Will smith, and its the Will smith with the goofy google glass on his face

I absolutely love this movie for all the reasons Patrick said, but also because it was one of the last great uses of traditional special effects work mixed with good use of CG. The movie poster is awesome too and embodies the intensity and intimidation of the ships.

I still love this movie! My god.
