Ozzie Slash and Flea battle using identical characters with outdated gear and only Cure and Napalm learned. Using the wrong strategy of hitting Flea first instead of Slash. Just spamming Confuse and Cure, no special tactics. This game is really easy!

I can't do it anymore. This Endurance Run has bested me. You win, Ryan and Patrick. Tell 2poch I love her.

In this episode, Ryan and Patrick discover the wonders of Woolseyism.

If for some reason either one of them are reading comments this far in, all you missed are some half decent stealable items from the group boss fight (nothing important though) and having Bagus in your party, as this is really the only part of the game where he gets any memorable dialogue as a party member. ("Do you hear that? That is the sound of the Reaper...")

Let's face it, they're all pretty bad. Except Jeff, when he gives a care. Or Brad, when he sperg-focuses on one game.

I'd say Vinny and Dave deserve a mention. Dave for him being the "hardcore PC gamer", which PC games are typically harder than console games. And Vinny, for being a psuedo-PC gamer, and being known for being the only Bomber who didn't give up on either of the Souls games.

Not that this makes them better gamers than Jeff or anything, but they definitely seem to play harder games than the others.

I have this theory that Patrick is better than he seems in these videos, but he's holding back because Ryan is the one playing and he doesn't want to walk him through the entire game.

I haven't really seen any evidence of Dave actually being a hardcore PC gamer. He doesn't know how DOSBox works and thinks Skyrim is the perfect RPG because it's really easy. I mean, that's fine, but the "hardcore PC gamer" label he's got is weird. And we have ample evidence of how Vinny is at games, which is probably slightly below average.

But that's fine. They don't need to be great. And I think Ryan and Patrick are doing fine at Chrono Trigger. They're doing better than I did when I first played it (at age 12, right after it came out). People just forget all the mistakes they made and think, "How could they die at that boss? I beat it on the first try the last five times I played" when the very first time, they didn't know the pattern and died four times or something. Or they played Chrono Trigger in like 2004, after growing up playing RPGs that Chrono Trigger directly influenced.

Since when has it ever been a good idea to directly attack a boss character when he's got supporting enemies? (Aside from maybe Two-Face in Arkham City.) Especially when he obviously has the most HP, the support guys previously just went down in like 3 hits, and every time you slap him, he counters with a devastating 3-man counter attack?

Also weird that they didn't immediately jump over and strip the MP reduce off of Brog when he wasn't going to be in the party, especially after remarking how expensive Confuse is.

I disagree. Not only do reviews and quick looks and such tell you if the game is worth getting or not, there are also some serious game journalists out there. Sure much of it is stupid, but then you have for example the Swedish gaming magazine called Level that has internviews with developers, how they make games and the backdoor politics behind certain decisions (often in older games where it's no longer as sensetive for publishers to talk about it). I've read things like the story of how Sweden was the first country in Europe (and almost the first country outside of Japan) to get the NES, the story behind the Super FX chip for the SNES and an interview with an ex-game producer on why licenced games often fail and how one licenced game job he had to make made him quit the industry. I've also read about how Starcraft was made, the 3dfx Voodoo graphics chip, the Dreamcast and much much more.

It seems as internet game sites have taken over in terms of quantity and speed of news, magazines have developed into focusing more on digging up interesting stories and such in order to compete since they know they can't compete in quantity and speed they have to focus on quality.

For all of those slating them, the purpose is entertainment, not a perfect run through. Imagine Ryan consulting a faq or walkthrough every 2 seconds? Would that be fun to watch? If you want a perfect run, buy the game eg on DS, sit with your guide, and play yourself. Grrrr

@mutha3: The problem is that they don't know what they prefer. Due to the decisions they've been making and the way they've performed, WAIT mode would benefit them greatly. Since they'd get time to look at everything, this would make a huge difference.

@Splodge: Everyone is allowed to make mistakes, that's not the problem. Why you see so many comments trashing them is that they just aren't paying attention to anything. For those who have played this game, it can be pretty tough to watch when simply reading a little bit of text would change things.

Of course you don't have to watch it, no one is being forced to watch anything on the internet. However, this is a professional video game journalist website and feedback is important.

Yeah, you kind of get nothing out of Ozzie's Fort if you don't use Ayla to steal stuff from the bosses, or find the secret room, but at least they got some funny dialogue (though if Magus were in the party the dialogue is even better).

Secret room? DAMN THIS GAME AND ITS MANY SECRETS I SHALL NEVER FIND.

@pyromagnestir: Haha, I think at a certain point while playing the DS version (never played the original), I just started looking up stuff as I was doing it to make sure there wasn't an item worth stealing I was going to miss. The hidden room in the fort is one of the only times they really hide chests from you.

I was trying to resist my usual urge to look shit up and just play the game on my own this first time, but I gave in on a bunch of stuff towards the end of the game. It started with stuff like "I'm not sure how I need to start this side quest and I don't want to wander around trying to figure out which npc I need to stumble upon to get it going so how about I just look that up?" but has now devolved into finding out what enemies I can steal cool shit from and stuff like that.

Not that I really need most of that cool shit, as this game isn't all that hard and I doubt it'll become noticeably harder before the end here. And that urge to find that shit out can sometimes detracts from my enjoyment of a game, I get so distracted finding all the secret shit I never use that I forget to just have fun and discover stuff.
