The front port not charging issue is a console problem on a small number of them, it's not intentional. Mine charges the controller in rest mode fine.

I got a 1TB SSD that I have plugged into the USB C port on the front of my PS5, and that hasn't caused me any trouble playing PS4 games. I just plugged the controller cable into the back, so I don't know if my front USB port has trouble.

@kazzerscout: There's also a setting to have the usb ports always be powered, by default it's only for about 4 hours after being put into rest mode I believe.

I was leaving the house the other day and down the alley on the way to the shop was an open suitcase with a family of foxes in. They were whimpering, piss wet through, and there was blood everywhere, they were in a real bad way. I didn't really know what to do so I called animal welfare. The woman on the phone said "god, that's awful. Are they moving?"

I said "I don't know, but that would explain the suitcase"

Abby you brought a lot to the site with your perspective and personality and we're all better for it, it's a shame to see you go. Like Vinny said, I hope the good outweighed the bad. I hope you do well for yourself and you come back as a guest frequently!

I have been plagued by smelly sulphur water from the day I purchased my house. This was 10 years ago. A few years back, we purchased a new water heater and noticed that our water smelled like, well, water. Fast-forward to modern day times, the sulphur smell returns. This all lines up!

I am so happy that my beasters actually brought light to such a specific issue, this is not something we just let go, just never found any solution with results.! How random is that!? Currently checking out parts. If this works, I am forever grateful!

Abby, I will truly miss your presence on the Beastcast, you will be sorely missed. (5 Years is my favorite Björk song.) Short rant incoming. Homogenic is a decade defining album to me and Mark Bell will live on through his work on that album, as well as his early pioneer work as LFO in the early Warp Records days (Frequencies is such an important album). Homogenic represents perfect chemistry between two artists that are hugely influential to me and so many others. He was a hero. RIP Mark. Much love Abby, I hope you do amazing things. I truly hope you someday get to meet Björk Guðmundsdóttir!

Speaking of Chess, anyone play GO? I used to play a very long time ago but recently got back into it when introducing to my kids. Such a deceptively complex game, also inhibits good conversation at times. Chess is great too!

Goodbye Abby "Hey! I'm Walkin Here!" Russell. You made a lasting impact here at GB that won't soon be forgotten. You bravely spoke your mind and faced the sling and arrows that came with it. May you land on your feet in your future goals. And of course I expect many guest appearances by you in the future. Once GB, always GB.

PS5 Firmware Version 20.02-02.26.00 was just released today and in the release notes it says

An issue that prevented the PS5 wireless controller from being charged while in rest mode when connected to the PS5's front side USB Type-A port using the USB cable included with some PS5 consoles was resolved.

So hopefully your issue is fixed @ybbaaabby and @alex.

@vinny This is funny because our water heater cracked a week ago and we installed a new one. After getting everything set up water just pours out of that temp/pressure valve. We tried reducing the water pressure coming into the house and replacing the valve but neither fixed it. Now tomorrow we have to unhook everything and take it back for a replacement and have it installed again. The whole thing has been a huge pain.

I really hope there isn't too much negative feeling for Abby but I get it. I would say its a sad case of a vocal minority causing outsized issues though. I know for myself I would have a hard time with these types of things if I personally was on camera in this kind of role.

Losing Dan and Abby in the space of a year is a real bummer. Looking forward to the next era of GB East next year though with the crew back in the office, and presumably a couple of new hires.
