Appreciate you guys touching on the Capitol Hill incident yesterday, I know usually you all stay out of political stuff cause games are meant to be an escape but damn, some events simply can't be ignored.

I am pretty psyched Alex is watching Serial Experiments Lain. It has been a favorite show of mine since I was a teenager. Always nice to see new people discover it.

Glad y'all touched on the Capital Hill stuff, was nice to know it wasn't just me who was furious. Seeing all the images and video from that really fucked me up mentally. As Alex said, it was shocking but not surprising - of course if you feed people lies and whip them into a frenzy for years, those chickens will eventually come home to roost.

On the games front, I was super stoked to hear @vinny played There is no Game! I finished it a couple days ago, and weirdly enough, one of my first thoughts was "this totally seems like it would be up Vinny's alley". I already made my GOTY list on the site, but I actually might sneak that game on there, I adored it. It pumps more clever ideas into 5 hours than most 50 hour games do, and it is legitimately VERY funny. One of my coworkers also played it with their kids, and their family enjoyed it a lot too! I hadn't thought about the analogy of kid's books that strike a similar tone, but you're totally right.

Also...yes, strangely enough, there is a narrative justification for the state of undress of the pilots in 13 Sentinels. Honestly, most of the stuff in that game happens for a reason, but that's all I'll say.

If there was anything good about yesterday, it defined things for people, here and abroad, about what has been happening, word and deed, for the past 4 years. Pictures, and by extension video, says as much as words. And there has been a lot of that.

It also occurred to me that many of those individuals were maybe 'gamers". Lol.

Edit, as for Dick Tracy, I remember the original. It was always interesting artwork, bullets leaving holes in people, and had a real right wing bent. So did little Orphan Annie. I was recently following the new Dick Tracy comic on Microsoft news, and it was also pretty fantastical. Orphan Annie has found a home there, friends with some 16 year old girl with antennae named Honeymoon (no clue) But I stopped reading when the comic strip started depicting drug dealers as Vietnam Vets were once depicted; long hair, military coats with peace signs, and burned out visages.

I’ve worked as a minority in corporate America since 1997. With positions at international banks in Wall Street and PWC. So, I have a ton of experience on this: The fact that there’s so much turnover when it comes to their minority hires is red-flag and should at least be looked at.

Alright, I'm just going to go ahead and say that we'll be treating any more talk about GB's hiring practices as off-topic for the purposes of this thread. And before anyone gets on me about not wanting to have that discussion, keep in mind that I spent almost an entire week staying up until 4 AM discussing these issues with community members when the Dan and Jason hires happened in threads like this one, and have been in plenty of other threads about it since. It's a valid discussion and you're welcome to have it in the forums or PMing Vinny/Jeff but it's off-topic here so take it elsewhere.

Both of you need to cool it if you want to remain in this thread.

So as a staunch “never Trump” Republican who was heartbroken by what happened yesterday I’m just curious (and I’m really hoping I can get a good faith reply here) why comparing the Capital riots and the riots over police brutality is self-evidently erroneous.

You might believe protesting police brutality is more virtuous then the election outcome but it doesn’t change the fact that both events escalated to the point of inexcusable violence (I however do agree with Vinny that the Presidents rhetoric directly inspired yesterday’s riots and that is reprehensible)
