They set the date so far back to ensure that the Extra Life videos wouldn't flood the site and the RSS feed :)

... honestly didn't think watching the character walking in different color lights was any fun, maybe it's just me.

I don't know why, but people playing Adventure games or any games with puzzles annoy me when the get stuck, don't hear the sounds like door opening leaving them wondering what to do now. This PT section cause me that frustration. I am no better games than them so I don't know why I get so frustrated.

The degradation of Lisa's mental state was oddly fun to watch.

I'm with Ian. The whole PT 'puzzle' oh hey so viral do our marketing for us shit is dumb.

So I thought I was a bit of a wimp playing horror games, but watching Brad and Lisa barely able to spend more than a few minutes in P.T. makes me think I do alright.

I normally don't get annoyed at people playing video games on the internet, and I think Samantha is great, it was just how long she spent not trying the microphone because she was so convinced it wouldn't work.

I love how during this whole thing Ian is just in the back looking like he's trying to keep everything from exploding.

Why is it dumb? It seems to have worked in spades.

Because you want as many people as possible to enjoy the experience and see your trailer. Wasn't it all discovered a day after release? Most people are going to play it and get frustrated, and only a subsection of those are actually going to bother looking it up, realising what it is, and then watch the trailer on Youtube. That's bad. They aren't seeing your trailer and don't know what you're selling.

I briefly worked in marketing for a book publisher, so I know a little of how this stuff works. None of this is good marketing unless you only want to reach the most dedicated and clued-in people who play games. (Out of the audience of around 10 million on PS4.) Working in marketing has also given me an even more acute hatred for marketing bullshit that makes products worse, though in this case it was probably just Kojima being Kojima.

And its stated objective of bringing people together like Fez to work on 'cracking the code' over weeks or months didn't even pan out, as it was just one girl who stumbled on the solution within a day of release or whatever it was. They might as well have released the trailer on Youtube themselves and put out a companion demo, then they could at least have access to numbers on how many watched the trailer and use that to gauge interest. (Marketing lives on numbers.)

What could have been a short, scary and entertaining game followed by a reveal and trailer for the revival of a revered classic Playstation series is instead cut short by frustrating nonsense that actively prevents people from seeing your trailer. How are most people probably going to stop playing PT? They'll likely put down the controller and say, 'fuck this'. That's bad marketing.

Anyway, that's my ridiculously long explanation for why I thought it was dumb.
