@tolkoto: Is this a bad time to mention how the energy mechanic worked? You spend the blue bar on those special attacks, and use the named combos to refill it. Also the cheat mode started you at the top exp level and gave all weapons and max ammo. You know, for when you get the urge to replay it. Aaaaaaany day now. :)

So, are Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island mainline Mario games? They're both direct sequels to the first Yoshi's Island. Each game references the previous in its intro, so all three are part of the same timeline.
