Watching Dan navigate a clutch sure was something.

I'm trying to imagine if his first intro. to driving was public roads, manual (with clutch), and off you go.

Yesss! I could literally watch people play Truck Simulator all day long. It's so relaxing, it's like a virtual road trip.

Infact the Yogscast used to marathon that game for their Christmas streams and I loved just lying in bed watching those.

I have played an embarrassing amount of American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. The best "just drive and listen to music and podcasts" games.

Simply delightful.

I love trucker youtube channels. Used to watch Allie Knight all the time. Her channel has about three years worth of driving all over the lower 48. Also her cat, and more recently dog, are really cute. This year she quit trucking to do some sort of motorhome travel blog thing but I don't think that has gotten off the ground yet.

It weirds me out that the signs around Phoenix are green, and not brown in color. I also miss the fun concrete designs on the sides of the highway, and the gravel patterns.

I listen to a ton of NPR, and I also can't stand Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I'm completely with Dan on this one, other than the fact that he judges NPR based entirely on its worst show.

As a New Mexico native, it blows me away that it's in any game.

Well this was a great unexpected surprise. Wasn't expecting more trucking on here. Did American Truck really come out in early 2016? Man, that time has just flown by.

I don't usually say this but I'm totally with Dan on this one for the automatic/manual thing. Not because of which is better but having anxiety problems and then be asked to learn a manual is really too much in my experience. When I was a teenager being forced to learn manual, I had a nervous breakdown just as I was merging into the highway and the vehicle stalled and I just got out of the vehicle and freaked out while people stopped behind me and that was the end of that. Driving is unsafe enough as is.

Dan continues to hurt my soul. NPR is quality radio and a goshdarn cultural institution. WGBH is my favorite radio station (jazz in the mornings, quality classical in the afternoons, and awesome eclectic sets at night,) and WBUR produces good news content.

I can understand why Dan wouldn't like Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, but that says more about him and less on the quality of the show...

also, check out the translated lyrics of "Despacito" in Spanish. They are FILTHY, and its kind of funny to hear people sing along without knowing what it means.

For people who think a clutch is in the engine, just buy whatever the owners manual for your car says. Higher octane just reduces knock and if your car isn't designed for it, it does nothing.

This was a great stream/video. What makes me love this Playdate so much is thinking about it like their version of National Lampoon's Vacation. The crew are on a "family" road-trip to the Grand Canyon and are playing car games all the while oblivious to the fact that Alex is constantly trying to drive them all into the Canyon and being foiled along the way.

I'd watch that movie.

I need to play more of virtual truck simulator. That game is fun, and I am not even at all into trucks. I just kinda like it as a way to travel around and explore the neat areas, even if they are obviously a very abbreviated version of those states.

BOY that movie conversation huh. Also almost certain Dan has seen The Raid and The Raid 2, both subtitled foreign films.

We don't get NPR here but everything I hear about NPR sounds incredibly boring or uninteresting.

A Prairie Home Companion has gotten a lot better since the new host took over. It's more folk music focused now and doesn't have Garrison Keillor's insanely lone monologues. Really good music!

I wish they had Canadian Truck Simulator

Euro Truck Simulator 2 totally has a multiplayer mod. Also, you can use the Vive on that as well as American Truck Simulator. With this information, go forth and create awesomeness.

I am totally down for that multiplayer stream idea!

edit3: I can completely sympathize with dan about how stressful manual gear changes are when you're concentrating on not killing other road users. my tendency was to over-rev and do aggressive gear changes because i hated having to do them and wanted them over quickly. in the end i never attempted to pass my test because it wreaks havoc with my brain.

It's actually kind of fun to watch Dan be forced to learn new things. Vinny can teach him a lot.

I just wanted to mention there is a dog mod for your passenger seat :)
Also there is a very stable and fun multiplayer mod.
