To the person asking about Dark Souls II platforms:

If you can, wait for the PC version. All the zeitgeist stuff and "being there with the community" is grossly overrated.

The first time you play the game you should ignore EVERYTHING and play it by yourself. Once you have finished it by yourself you can still do all the community stuff.

Can't get down with the sous-vide stuff. Cooking meat in a plastic bag seems like a great way to get cancer or some sort of stomach/intestine problems in the long run. Plastic leeches chemicals, that's just a fact and saying that it doesn't get hot enough to leech isn't a good argument because plastic will leech in cold water.

Our long national nightmare won't be over until the Lucasarts Shit Bandit is found and brought to justice.

I was in a similar situation with my PS3 last month. It was a launch version of the console that died, I completely took it apart and re-pasted the CPU/GPU only to have it live for a few more minutes, I don't own any of the current gen platforms, and I have a competent gaming PC. It seemed weird to be buying a previous generation console when the next version was already out, but there was too much I'd miss out on by not having my PS3.

Not only had I been buying more games for it in the time leading up to its demise, but a lot of them were platform exclusive. Gran Turismo 6 is one of my go-to games, I was halfway through Tales of Xillia at the time, waiting to finish it before I started on Yakuza 3, and I still had 11 months of my Playstation Plus subscription left. While the Plus subscription obviously still carries onto the PS4, the offers aren't going to be anywhere near as good as the PS3's within the next year.

For as much as I would have liked to have moved onto the current generation of consoles, neither the PS4 nor the Xbox One have any games I'm interested in. I figure I'll be playing my PS3 into next year at the very least (thanks to Persona 5), so it ended up making sense to re-buy the console. The worst part of it was just how much of a downgrade the Super Slim was from my launch console. No more backwards compatability, it came with a 250GB HDD when I had already swapped out my original 60GB with a 500GB (the 12GB version of the Super Slim doesn't come with a hard drive tray and it was going to be a pain for me to get one) and it has a manual disk tray instead of a slot loader, which means that it's actually louder for me than my PS3 was.

With the amount I've played since I got my new console I definitely think it was worth it for me, but I was pretty on-the-fence at the time. I'll get a PS4 when it starts to get some exclusives that interest me more, but until then, in my situation, the combination of PC and PS3 is proving to be more fruitful.

This is going to be the last Bombcast I'll listen to in quite a while. Let's hope I can pull off a complete media block-out until Dark Souls 2 PC.

Whith one-color pixels that can only turn on or off you would greatly reduce the number of possible configurations and still run through all natural laws and models that can be expressed through equations (twice), including text descriptions of all terms and symbols used.

You'd just never be able to assemble them from the random data without a-priori knowledge.

Heck, you would run through all puzzle pieces of all literature that could ever be written in all languages. Including detailed descriptions of all the pictures you would get with RGB pixels instead of monocolor on/off pixels.

It took me years and years to work up the nerve to ride the Zipper. Turns out, my trepedation was WELL warranted. That thing is pretty nuts, and makes every other ride in existence sound pretty much like "a Zipper for fuckin' pussies".

I started napping during this bombcast. Guess which part woke me up in terror.

Vinny just simply describing being stuck on the top hill of a rollercoaster and then having to climb down made me noticeably anxious and a little nauseous. Sounds like I'm the same way as him in that I hate heights but enjoy rollercoasters; generally I'll usually close my eyes or try not to look around too much while "chug-chug-chug"-ing slowly up the first big hill, but after that things are moving so fast that it's no big deal.
