This was the first Bombcast I watched live. I think I still prefer the audio version, but I can see why people would like to see the behind the scenes stuff and talk in the chat.

All of the neat details (i.e. getting more points for an assist when you do more damage) they added into CoD WWII are just stuff I want put back into MW Remastered or a MW2 Remastered. Basically the actual content of that game sounds about as boring as possible while still being competent.

im the mythical unicorn jeff is confused by. I have all the systems including a gaming PC I got in 2012. if I wanted to upgrade I'd basically have to start from scratch again. Don't want to spend all that money and hooking it up to my tv is a pain. The X1X is a nice compromise.

I'm consistently blown away by how many people consider Wolfenstein 2 to be difficult. Granted, I'm playing on PC which probably makes things significantly easier, but with 2 fully-upgraded Sturmgewehrs, I was melting people even on the hardest (non-permadeath) difficulty. The only thing I found that made the game difficult was really bad conveyance both of what is doing damage and how much damage is being/has been done. After all the work that was put into the pacing of The New Order - both in terms of gameplay variety from level to level and the progression of crazier and crazier boss fights - it was pretty disappointing to finish The New Colossus in just under 7 hours having fought a whopping one bossfight (the rest of the "bosses" are the same recycled enemy that can be run-past) and having near zero memorable set-pieces that weren't done better either by other games or the game's own predecessor.

As for the story, I found it to be such a radical departure from the preceding entry that I couldn't take much of it seriously. They went from a game that was quietly horrifying and serious with some understated levity for flavour - which lent it a certain grounded cohesiveness - to a game that swings wildly from super-serious to over-the-top stupid in a way that felt extremely disjointed, ham-fisted, and kinda made it hard to stay invested in the characters. Like, there are parts where the game is really trying to sell you on things that it totally throws out in the second half, and there are things that are introduced that totally go nowhere - likely because they're being set up for the sequel - that made it feel kinda weirdly rushed and tonally inconsistent in a bad way. What's worse is after replaying The New Order, I realized that the team seemingly forgot that a lot of the things BJ confronts about his rose-tinted recollection of the american way in TNC are things he already confronted in the previous game, at least in the Wyatt timeline. If they were remotely paying attention, they would have at the very least written some lines during certain key moments that actually reflect the conversations he had, as opposed to parroting the same sentiments he did in the last game as though none of it ever happened.

Though I've been pretty negative on the game as a whole, there are parts of that game that I totally loved and character moments that both fucked me up and had me genuinely bust up in ways games truly never have before, but when you undermine seemingly everything that made the game's predecessor so great, I find it hard to be anything but disappointed, because this was an opportunity that feels completely squandered.

@indigodays: one of the reviews I watched on youtube he played on death incarnate and said he never faced a challenge and used 2 guns the whole game. Kinda disappointing to hear that. I wanna play but been waiting to build my new machine which I just did after 7 hours only to be reminded I'm still using a ps2 keyboard and surprise new motherboards don't use ps2 connectors:(

Forza looks fantastic.... right up until the point that you notice the trees are 2D. As soon as I noticed that, I can't stop seeing the flat planes pointing directly at me and fading out as the angle changes.

Same here. I've got a PC that's probably more powerful that the One X still (some i7 I don't recall, and a 1070), but I just prefer gaming on console. It's easier to move if I want it on the other TV/monitor, it doesn't impact what I'm already using the PC for, I just plug it in and it works (to be fair, PC is mostly there these days as well), and being controller focused is a plus for me (due to a joint issue, prolonged use for a keyboard makes my hands hurt).

It's also cheaper (for hardware - games vary) - I paid £360 for a One X/Forza bundle, which is the same price I paid for the graphics card alone in my PC (albeit a year ago).

I get that it's not for everyone, but for me it falls right into the sweet spot of what I want (and definitely worth the upgrade - Hitman locked at 60fps vs. the performance on the original Xbox One is a night and day difference).

I was in the car when Jason was telling his foot story, so I couldn't skip ahead, all I could do was turn the volume down and turn it back up every so often to see if the story was finished (because I'm a gigantic baby when it comes to hearing about injuries and medical stuff). So all I really heard was:

"...lking around with a broken foo..."

"...ound a bloody sock..."

"...got a really bad infecti..."

"...et to keep his foot."

I'm kind of taken aback by how much trouble Ben is having with Evil Within 2. You have to purposefully pass the sniper rifle parts spots multiple times, even when mainlining, so he must have been just rushing the main story and doing very little side questing. See that's interesting because if you don't do side quests in chapter 3 (when you get to explore the town the first time), you can miss the following:

  • the first shotgun
  • the sniper rifle
  • the warden crossbow
  • the sidequest chain for a revolver

So that's pretty significant in the long run. On one hand I can assure people that it is possible to mainline it, but it will be ROUGH if it's your first time through the game and you don't know what enemy pools to expect. On the other hand: I would never recommend anyone rush a survival horror game on their first playthrough. The whole point of survival horror is you scrounging for ammo / items while maintaining your ammo/health encountering new enemies to prepare for even further fights you can't predict. In this sense I can definitely see reviewers running into problems with this game if they rush it too much.

I didn't know EW2 locked off areas once you get to a certain point in the game, blocking your ability to go back to sidequests. I'd blame EW2 for that one, but I'd say it's Ben's fault in his playthrough for rushing the game and not properly preparing considering the genre.

Why do I get the feeling that this is gonna be yet another year where despite all the things it does right Wolfenstein will be wrongly overshadowed by Destiny in terms of shooters? I'd play Wolfenstein ten times before I play that new Call of Duty game once. Not a fan of the lengthy section of DOTA talk while Jason always gets relegated to a minute for MonHun(-likes) most weeks. Go inclusive or go home. Glad the A-Striker is back in action and wish him the best of health.

Boy it is disappointing to hear about Need for Speed.

The last racing game I really, really enjoyed was Hot Pursuit (the 2010 one). That was the first game that Criterion developed and also the simplest. No real story, and while if kind of had an open world, mostly you just picked races from a menu - and I think the game was better for it.

Welcome back Jason.

Apparently we have at least two things in common. First, I also, suddenly out of nowhere, can't get any form of payment to work on PSN and have to get PSN gift cards through Amazon to buy anything off of the PSN store.

Second, I also have peripheral neuropathy, but not because of diabetes, and, in my case I don't just feel numbness but a strange combination of numbness and excruciating pain (think soaking your feet in ice water...forever).

Good luck, and keep watching... your feet.

@indigodays:I can't help but disagree. It felt the perfect continuation of what TNO was building for. Boss fights are such a tired thing in games that its really refreshing we can just run past the big boys. Better to have a wealth of crazy combat engagements and lots of variety of ways to murder the nazis its a ton of fun.

The story has that dark middle chapter feel with a lot of light hearted silly things that why would you want to take it all that seriously? Its a fun game beyond just the act of playing. Incredible for a AAA single player game.

As for difficulty, yeah, its crazy how people feel its a hard game when all it really asks is, like every other seemingly hard game, to learn the rules of engagement. But reviewers and those who play a ton of games all at once all the time may not have time to do so. Tough break.

For anyone who cares, you can be part of Sony rewards without having anything to do with their credit cards. Simply sign up, link your account, and you can start earning stuff. You'll get points for anything you buy/rent through the PSN store, Sony movies you buy, Sony movies you see at the theater, etc. As far as old trophies not counting it makes total sense why they don't allow them. I don't have a ton of trophies but I do have 70+ platinums alone so its not feasible for them to allow this stuff not to mention the exploits that existed for a while that allowed people to cheat and get trophies without doing anything.

In terms of the XBOX (better acronym for the Xbox One X in my opinion, and funnier) I have a 4K TV and I couldn't give a rip about it. I have a regular Xbone that I never use so its dumb for me to buy one. If Microsoft could get their act together and start making quality 1st party content I might consider giving some of my time to the system. My regular PS4 is good enough. I'll wait for the next version of the PS4 Pro where you know they will add 4K BD support.

For the first time ever hearing Jeff, I felt like he wasn't unpartial. As a neutral person on both subjects, it sounded like he was just a PS4 fan talking about Xbox One X and 'futuristic shooters' fan talking about COD:WW2. More of a nitpicky argument with even some hating. That was just my impression.

@joedangerous: You saved me some time lol. And you can actually go through the marrow and go back to the Chapter 3 area if you want later in the game. There's even a fun dialogue with a certain A NPC if you haven't gone through some stuff in the story. lso, why would you pass the opportunity to grab a sniper rifle? And the dome section was clearly going to be a bit difficult. The npc tells you that, and you can choose to wait and gather more resources in the area, or say go and start the section. There are a ton of breakable boxes and small and big mobious containers to open and gather resources throughout the section, and if you get close to the npc, you can grab 40 handgun bullets.
