That they've somehow found a way to make it even more of a mundane shooter and less of an RPG? I know that would be pretty difficult, but I dunno. On-rails turret sections aren't exactly something I want in my BioWare "RPG".

Not only that, the direction they took Dragon Age 2 was... not good. I'm really worried they're going to do something similar with Mass Effect.

Exactly, @Peanut and @isnipeyoudie pretty-much nailed my concerns. I'm worried that it's going to have less focus on the narrative aspects I loved so much from the first game. I did enjoy 2, but the story was much less the focus in that game - it was all characters. That's not a bad thing, mind you; but the whole terminator baby thing kind of made me a little nervous about them going more that direction with the whole next game.

Then again, they've delayed it once and that's a good thing - that means they're putting in more time. And the trailer that came out of the VGAs showed some kind of experience system at work.

Come on, Ryan, "masocore" isn't a thing, and you know it. Being really really hard isn't a genre, it's a design choice. Just call SMB a platformer, what's so hard about that?
 
Also, it finally occurs to me that Jeff must hate Mondays, since he has to die in an explosion every week so Virtual Ryan can tell us about the week ahead.

@Peanut: You're not alone at all. Actually, I was reallllllly disappointed with Mass Effect 2 just because I freaking loved Mass Effect 1 so damn much. It is important to keep in mind that my ME1 experience is with the PC version which is awesome. I thought the combat in ME1 on the PC was fantastic so when they changed it in ME2 and dumbed down the RPG elements I was so let down. For me, nothing about the combat needed to be fixed, it worked great with mouse and keyboard, in contrast, the ME2 keyboard and mouse controls were awful. Plus the fact that there was no 360 controller support in the PC version of ME2 made it even worse, not to mention just stupid to not include that functionality.

All in all. I'm very skeptical about ME3. I want to love it, the same as I wanted to love ME2 but it just didn't come close to the first one for me... just thinking about it bums me out...

The main thing I'm taking away from this is that I need to go watch TNT from last week. The guys faces at the bottom totally made it great.
