A ceiling fan would be great, but just buying a decent sized AC and sticking it in the window of the main room at Jeff's house would be a lot easier way to deal with the hot parts of summer.

thanks jeff, i really like jar time. i like the longer form insights that we don't usually get on the podcast when you have group conversations.

He did once have about a ten-minute answer about sexism, the gaming industry, etc etc., in a previous Jar Time video. It was a really good one, too, in my opinion.

(I suspect the reason--or at least a big part of the reason--there isn't an answer here, or anywhere else, is because it's quite often against company policy to talk about those kind of hiring decisions. like, talking about any other candidates that were or weren't hired and why. Moves you into all kinds of nasty legal grey areas if you do, too.)

In regards to the vita, I actually prefer playing a lot of those rogue-ish games/semi-casual games on the vita than my pc. It's just really easy to pick up and play sometimes.

30 mins. is kinda short for a jars video but if that means more of these on regular basis I'm totally for it!

Edit: Also, I could give two shits about what Jeff Canata thinks about Giant Bomb. He always came off as a person who just likes to hear himself talk and seem important to me.

90's game magazines... I was given a year subscription to PC Gamer back then as a birthday gift. That was a good magazine. I was never disappointed with it.

The insulation issue is something that has always bothered me about San Francisco and surrounding area. Or i guess in any warm temperate climate. I live in Canada where the houses are built to maintain normal room temperature even when outside temperatures are bonkers bullshit madness. When I go to visit my brother in the SF bay area at Christmas or something and his house is freezing because the walls are barely insulated and the central heating is weaksauce, I am sad. And enraged. Inside = room temperature. Dropping in to the low 60's at night indoors because the climate of the area is usually warm is unacceptables. *waves an accusing finger at California*

The most important thing to take away from this video is that we could have had Kessler as a staff member if he didn't mess up and get a job at Sony. Fucking Kessler god damnit!

Some sort of stereo balance issue on Jeff's setup this time. I'm getting audio mainly out of the left channel. There is some sound in the right channel, but it's extremely muffled. It's somewhat uncomfortable to listen to.

I hope we get these more regularly, like one every two weeks. I think they're my favorite video series (yes it does sound weird calling them that).

It's funny that he keeps his Skylanders next to the TV, he never knows when he'll get the craving for some Skylanders.

I enjoy EVO as much as E3... it unfortunate Jeff doesn't get into it as he is the go-to fighting guy at the office. Shame about Brad and that League of Legends BS... uuuuhhhhhh!

That's pretty slack to think we need some kind of guidance through diversity to help make us a better people. Dude GameSpot has everything you and Jeff are looking for, just don't blame me if the content comes across as a little safe, stale and even nauseatingly politically correct at times.

Thanks for answering my question(s), Jeff. It never even occurred to me that the Nintendo restrictions would have been a reaction to the '83 game crash, but it made perfect sense as soon as you said it.

Also, I'd completely forgotten about Flying Edge as a brand name! Just hearing it has triggered a need to play some Arch Rivals on the Mega Drive. Genesis. Whatever.

I'm not gonna dive into the hiring decisions as that's been discussed to death, but:

What the heck is wrong with political correctness exactly? People seem rail against it so often when political correctness is really (when you boil it down to it's simplest parts) just not being rude about people. There seems to be a big movement these days amongst some sections of the media and large portions of society who are saying "political correctness has gone mad". Why? Because polite society no longer deems it appropriate to say wildly offensive things in public. Because words have history and context as well as their literal meanings. Because we don't live in an series of unconnected mono-cultures anymore.

I honestly cannot understand why anyone who is remotely progressive would care about political correctness. It's not a law. You can still say what you want; the difference is that now people will react to it, and if you go around saying heinous things, lots of people won't like you for it. Simple as that really.

Sorry to choose your reply to go on a little rant about this subject (as I'm not sure if it properly applies to you or not), but the complaint about PC gets me every time.

@fiyenyaa: Haha, I appreciate you added the apology at the end ;) The problem with an over PC world is that no one ever says or does what they feel out of fear of being persecuted, so you get a watered down or ever fake version of a persons opinion as everyone is always playing it safe. Things are so carefully orchestrated and calculated that it takes the emotion and passion out of everything.

@ptys: But the problem I have with that view is that PC isn't a law; it's just the prevailing view of most people that you just shouldn't be so offensive with language and behaviour as a matter of course.

PC can step over the line from time to time, I'm know. But before PC, it was just normal for people to be insulted, marginalised, and demeaned in everyday speech. I'd know which I'd rather have.

Do you have evidence or examples of this? The only people who have to "water down" their opinion, in my experience, are the unfortunate misogynists, chauvinists, racists, or religious fanatics who are bemoaning the fact that their offensive and usually hateful messages are (rightfully) condemned by civilized society.

@ptys: I can't speak for others, but I try not to be confrontation with. However, I also see where @dasakamov is coming from because there is a high incidence of people who complain about PC because they want to be more openly offensive.

There are legit complaints, but I think it's fair that people are wary.

When I watch these videos I keep expecting to see those shelves above his TV buckle and collapse. I'd like to think Jeff wouldn't edit that out.
