Mass Alex: Mass Effect 3 - Part 04

It's back to the Citadel because sometimes the smallest help can have the biggest return... or just because we don't want to miss side stuff.

There are billions of stories in the universe, so why not play the best one?

Vinny, Alex needs to do the Grissom Academy mission as soon a possible.

There might be... consequences if he doesn't.

Man I forgot about the map issues. Alex or Vinny if you read this and haven't already figured it out, the numbers on the map just mark general areas and not specifics. It does get a tad confusing but quest objectives are not right on the numbers,

If I may make a recommendation that was made to me: make a save right before the endgame point of no return and finish the game without playing the “Citadel” DLC pack, then reload the pre endgame save and play it as a kind of epilogue.

I took this approach and am glad I did for two reasons:

a) Tone. The Citadel DLC is a fun adventurous romp and contrasts with the grim tone of galactic apocalypse.

b) It might be my favourite piece of DLC for any Mass Effect and playing it this way acts as a kind of joyous last hurrah after what many consider to be an underwhelming ending to ME3 proper.

Yeah, to echo what @draugen is saying, @alex and @vinny I really hope you both do Grissom Academy next. It's one of my favorite missions in the game and you definitely want to get on it next episode...

You should check the journal and map more often for some of those citadel quests! You can change what floor you look at with the RB LB, too. There is a lot of running around ahead of you...

I'd also suggest using the Spectre shooting ground for a few minutes to see some of the weapons. ME3 has a ton of new options and a lot of them are really cool and unique!

You can check maps of other Citadel areas without going to that location. Just press LB/RB on the map.

@alex The Citadel DLC is best suited right at the end, before the point of no return (Vinny will know when that is, I assume). The other DLC, the Bryson's Lab one, can really be done whenever, but suits the tone of the latter half of the game better. Omega DLC can be done whenever, without it feeling weird.

@vinny Hey Vinny, just wanted to give you a heads up about the Hamster hidden in the basement of Normany Engineering. He skitters across the floor twice every time you leave and exit. When clicked, Shepard will get the hamster as a pet in her bedroom again.

It's vitally important Alex have that hamster when he does the Citadel DLC. The fate of the entire universe depends on it.

ME 3 is actually better than I remember, but one thing that I did notice before is still present: The voice acting direction is very strange. I tend to chalk most of the problems of this game up to being rushed, hell they released it just a month over 2 years after ME2.

I actually am hoping that they use a guide as they play this. ME3 is a little different in a sense because so much stuff is time sensitive and you can straight up miss it. Then there's just so many random, small side quests that are on obscure planets that you might miss. I just enjoy watching Alex and Vinny as they go through Shep's adventure. I don't want them missing all this stuff that they will probably need and if they just have like a mission order guide with them as they play I think it'd help.

Man, I don't know why, but interacting with Aria in ME2 and ME3 is the only time I can ever remember being semi-intimidated IRL by a character inside a video game lol. Carrie-Anne Moss just gave that character so much life and energy.

I dont think anyone has mentioned it, but Alex should really talk to the bar tender at the cafe in the presidium. She has a side story that is important to a crew member.

Seeing Alex slowly learn that ME3 is a messy-as-hell game is honestly kind of nostalgic of my own experience of realizing how messy this game is.

The story in the Citadel DLC is so silly it felt like I was playing Saints Row, but the camaraderie between the companions certainly sells it. Can’t wait ’till Alex gets to it.

Alex just blurting out "Don't fuck my robot, Joker." after a brief bit of silence, is one of my favorite moments in this entire series.
