+1 for Alex’s reiteration that Kai Leng has, does, and always will, suck.

Finally back to it! Was anxious to see them get to the endgame and that DLC was stretching out way longer than I anticipated.

I'm also all for this idea to have the very last episode be a Live event with chat - that would be a lot of fun to see Alex ..react.. to the ending of this game.

In my head canon, somebody at Bioware lost a bet to another Bioware person and as a result they HAD to put Kai Ling in the game, who until that point had been some sort of weird running in-joke amongst the development team.

If only. Deadly Premonition was actually entertaining.

Anyway, next week should be interesting. I can't wait for Alex to pick a color. Part of me wishes that they weren't using the "enhanced" version of the game. I would really be interested in Alex's reaction to the original, pure, unadulterated, butt-fumble, Bill Buckner combined with Steve Smith-level disaster that was the original ending.

I think the final missions should take around 2.5 hours if you decide to do it live. Alex kills stuff pretty fast but there are plenty of cut scenes and talking!

I think the last mission is ~3 hourse long. The combat at the end of the game is much more punishing than the rest, there's a ton of bullet spungy enemies and those Ravagers+Harvesters that 2 shoot kill you.

@youeightit: I wish...

He is a prominent figure in several of the novels (and was a sucky, try-hard, edgelord Mary Sue-like figure there too), so it seems like one of the writers was reeeeally bad at reading the room...

I think some of those too short ''fades'' are cause they were counting on a black screen from loading times, but this being on pc is loading way faster. I don't remember any of those being that jarring

The Extended Cut is largely the same, just with extra cutscenes and dialogue that give more context and fill in a few of the plotholes people highlighted first time around (hence the name).

@vinny episode 23-25 aren't showing up in the carousel below the video? Latest one is 22 for me both logged in and not also in different browsers (Chromium/Firefox). They are available under shows in the Video Bomb app so most likely a web frontend bug.

Looking forward to the exciting final episodes of Mass Alex so thanks for keeping it going.

(Spoilers for stuff Alex won't be seeing)

The only notable things I can think of that were missed on the Citadel was Cortez getting the last bit of closure for his husband, running into Kelly and saving her life via hair change, and meeting Liara's other parent (the sassy bartender from Ilium in ME2). Oh and most vital, the Blasto poster that plays out the audio of the whole movie. All good stuff but eh, it's fine, this series has been fantastic and I can't wait for the (hopefully live) finale.

This is completely off topic, but given given all the news stories about self-driving cars and such, I have to ask - where are our omni-tools? Why are we putting all this effort into making big, stupid looking foldable phones when we could be looking to make cool holographic wrist-computers?

Get on it, Elon Musk!

From my recollection, The End can be done in one episode. Granted, we're probably talking like a 3 hour episode from beginning to end to play it safe. The mission(s) aren't that long, but there is more conversation stuff going on.

Also...

What does it matter? They are playing on a difficulty where that makes no difference. They are clearly in for the story not for the challenge.

More than a few times he's complained about his weapons not doing enough damage or enemies being too tanky, and that's because he's bullishly not learning the systems. It's not a big deal, it's just irritating to watch. More because he's making it harder on himself, not because I feel some backseat gamer need to enforce my play style on him.

I mean, I've been in that situation many times before and it feels bad when I find out there was some small specific I didn't learn that would have made a minor frustration easier. A single minor frustration, not a big deal, but if that minor frustration shows its face in every combat encounter for 30 hours, yeah, I feel bad when I realize I could have avoided that entirely.

It's gonna be a bit chunky. kind of like one of those dlc's. You can do it all in one go, but there's alot of reapers to wade through between you and the ending. In my memory it's a few "segments" worth of gameplay, but doable in one go. Treat it like you would the omega dlc thing or that bullshit with your clone in terms of time budgeting and you should be good.

Man this was my first time going through the story since I played it in 2012, and what a disjointed mess the story is:

- We're 90-95% of the way through the story, and at this point in the story we still don't know what the Crucible is or does even though there's a Manhattan Level Project going on to build it. I know they're saving it for the mega-expo dump at the end, but I guess some bread crumbs would've been nice.

- Hey the Citadel's at Earth now! No mission, no distress call, just hey we moved it that cool? Literally moving the pieces on the board to wrap up the plot.

- Kai Leng is just the biggest dork that get his ass kicked across the galaxy and is supposed to be intimidating. I think not having a good 2nd antagonist really hurts the pacing of the game.

I feel for the writers because it does appear with ME1/ME2 they wrote themselves into a corner, and you can clearly see them struggling to land the plane. I think Schier's book alludes to a lot of issues with development of this game.

There's a chance this will be a deeply unpopular opinion, but I'm going to say Kai Leng was worth the catharsis of breaking his sword.

That's some unapologetically cinematic anime shit and I am 1000% here for it

@mixmasterbru: Potentially not. I played the game on my One X a couple of months ago and the quick cut after the romance scene was just as jarring as the video here.

@hellscream: For me, the hardest fight on insanity was easily the clone fight, simply because I was playing vanguard and the motherf@#ker would just constantly dash + iron man ground pound (been a while so can't exactly remember the names) you to death.

@clagnaught: Funniest part of that scene is, when you mention it to Liara who's sitting at the table nearby, she knows about the bartender but doesn't really care to talk to her. But you can prod her, where she'll give a sulky teenage 'ugh, fine' comment and then go over to the bartender where there's some pretty fun dialogue between the two.

Bioware learned a tragic lesson of early 10s video games. Being voiced by Troy Baker doesn't make your character cool.

Eezo love.

Ah yes, the great Salarian funk single, Eezo Love.

And as a Mass Effect multiplayer man, I hate it so much how Alex ignores a halfway decent weapon build. Then again, what can you expect from someone who rolled a Sentinel? A class where who the hell would think to carry three weapons?

... And he still never learned to mailslot a Guardian!

It's almost like they're juggling multiple pieces of content and their lives and a bunch of other shit in a very trying time and maybe don't really give a shit about vague minutiae in a game whose combat is "meh" at best anyway.

Huh, must be tough and chaotic. All I'm doing is sitting here on my ass playing video games. I definitely don't have a busy and complicated life outside of this. I can not understand what it might be like to juggle multiple things at once while desperately trying to hold my life together.

Bad argument, Stan.
